As Jim said, supporting the vermin in the 80s as a kid is perfectly understandable. And they have always been very popular in Scandinavia. Look at Jamie Carragher in any case. Huge Evertonian as a kid. Think Michael Owen supported Everton also as a nipper.... ...but don't quote me on it..!!

Loads of players sign for "Their" clubs rivals.
Lee Clark left Newcastle for Sunderland. Alan Smith left Leeds for us. Michael Owen was an Everton fan who started his career at Liverpool then ended up here. Kenny Dalgleish was a Rangers fan who signed for Celtic. Mo Johnsone was a Celtic fan and former player who announced he would be coming back to Celtic before signing for Rangers instead (balls the size of planets that one).
If he wants to just play for the club he supports then he'll head off to the Arse.
If he actually wants to win trophies and look back at a glittering career and trophy room, and if we want him, then he'll come here.

Peter Schmeichel too, for Shiteh no less.
I still love him, what a legend. I just think of it as charity.

schmeichel did alienate a few people not only for playing for city but for over-celebrating a villa goal against united. he's certainly a legend in my eyes although maybe a bit of a dick. i don't know
his twitter stream suggests he's very pro united these days.

Apparently were on the verge of beating Spurs and Arsenal to sign Zaha, not concrete but shared anyway.

Despite what I mentioned earlier, reliable journo on twitter reckons we're meeting with Palace today to sort out a deal!

Is this guy really that good?
Anyone actually seen him play regularly? Other than the game against us and his appearance for England I've not seen too much of him, very hyped though. 12 million...?

He's a very good player, definitely one for the future, he has potential to be a better player than the current standard of wingers we currently have at United so to me, it's a good move.

i've not seen much of him since the cup tie, it's all youtube clips my palace mates show me. 'watch this, he beats 4 players' etc.
from what i have seen he doesn't match the hype [20mil to real madrid was the story for a while wasn't it] but i've not seen enough to have an opinion

Every player is hyped these days - English players more so. As for transfer price - same principle - things have changed and fees have gone up.
You want to buy an established player? He will cost you big bucks.
You want to buy a young player who looks like he has the potential to get alot better? You still pay a decent fee as the selling club want their cut.

The trouble with this is that he's English, an English talent with a potential to be great.
The price tag is irrelevant at the moment because I think if we do buy him we'll end up spreading the cost over a certain period of time anyway (I still don't think they'll get over £12m for him).
The Palace chairman isn't stupid, come out with a ginormous figure like £20m and it starts the bidding higher than they'd really expect to recieve for a player in the championship no matter how good he is.

Could be the exit door for Nani (mixed feelings) but good prospects are are good prospects. £ 12 million is actually a pretty reasonable 'top end' including add-ons for young British talent these days. I disagree with it, but it's the way of it.
