Meh. Based on a game, it'll be shite. Have you played the game ? Edit: I realise my question sounds snarky. I'll elaborate. This game has been routinely called one of the greatest ever made in terms of world building, story and characters. They now have the excellent Pedro Pascal, and a good character from GoT to play those roles. Good start. They also have the game creator, Neil Druckmann, as part of the directorial team. Then there's Craig Mazin, who created Chernobyl which was great. They have assembled a solid team behind this, who know how to create similar universes such as the one portrayed in this game. Also, Nick Offerman. End. So we can be quite hopeful.. Purely based on the game I have high hopes for this already 😏

Can't wait to see this. The Ellie actress doesn't look like her (never watched GoF), but I'm not going to judge until I see it. I didn't judge the Uncharted film and I ended up enjoying it. Plus Rose from Two and a Half men is in it!
Rather see an update for the 3rd game though!

If they get this right though it could be awesome. As you've said though will judge it after watching.

That’s fair, no arguments. I’ve been burned before too..

I've tried to be positive about Rings of Power, but the last episode was just awful. It's at GoT season 8 levels of bad. I'm not massively on top of Tolkien lore, but I know some of the stuff with the Elves in the last episode was just absolute lore breaking nonsense. It's like the writers have never read any Tolkien at all. I get that, some absolutely pointless changes which change the context of what Tolkein's work is supposed to be about. Though I would say, as a TV show, I've actually found episodes 4 & 5 a little more entertaining and engaging than the first three. Feels like we're at least moving the storyline on and things are happening. Some of it is still absolutely brutal though, particularly some of the acting and the the Harfoots are just painful to watch. Ultimately saying the latest 2 episodes of the most expensive show ever are a little more entertaining is a shambles. In comparison to House of the Dragon, which continues to not miss a beat.

Episode 6 is the best so far, by some distance. I think the show would be finding its feet if it wasn't for the glaring missteps. I still can't get past the Mithril stuff from the last episode. And Galadriel and Isildur, two of the most important figures from the future stories, being so unlikeable is still a big problem. I want to fast forward whenever either of those two are on the screen, and I'm not sure the characters are fixable at this point. I actually don't mind the Harfoots, their scenes are less egregiously bad than a lot of other stuff, in fact I think most of them have been quite fun. And I'm intrigued by the stranger and where that story line is going. If we've been wondering where the huge budget has gone, we now know after that final scene. That was pretty spectacular. HotD has been pretty great, but not flawless. I think it has some real pacing issues. Each new episode feels more rushed than the last. I feel like this season could've done with a couple of extra episodes, some extra time to let things breathe. I've seen a few people say that this season of HotD is better than the first season of GoT, which I disagree with. It's good, but not on that level for me. It's absolutely shitting of Rings of Power, though.

It's absolutely shitting of Rings of Power, though. Yeah, the latest episode was comfortably the best despite 1 or 2 reviews still picking holes in it. I get it but in comparison to what has come before, it was good and in places spectacular. Though in some way reliant on visuals again. At least Joseph Mawle has brought some genuine quality to one of the roles too, with Adar the best and most well acted character in the show so far. I just find the Harfoots annoying, and a little cheap. The Stranger storyline is interesting if a little obvious (hopefully I'm wrong in who I think it obviously is, meaning it won't have been obvious and at least an exciting revelation). I honestly haven't been disappointed with any of HotD. I do think the precedent is set with GoT that there has to be a MOMENT in pretty much every episode, which goes about explaining some issues with pacing. It's not at the level of the best of GoT, which would be the first four or so seasons as well as multiple episodes afterwards, but it certainly stands up to the decent Game of Thrones, probably better and is certainly better than the last couple IMO.

I think because of the last few seasons people forget how sensational the early seasons were. It was well on course IMO, to be being the best TV show ever made.

I think a combination of recency bias and the fact a lot of people need to lay the hyperbole on thick, positive or negative. There does seem to be a trend where a lot of people need to have strong opinions. It's not good enough for a show, or whatever else, to just be good, middling, or bad, it needs to be the best or worst thing ever.

Am I the only one who thought that episode could have used better lighting … Assuming you mean the last episode of HotD, no you weren't the only one. I spent half the episode squinting at the screen. Really hard to watch.
