No definition of world class should include international football, which is a step down from the Champions League. The World Cup is just a few weeks once every 4 years so to judge a player on that is mental. Not sure about that. Messi and Ronaldo score for fun in the Champions league. They have to work harder in the world cup. Not necessarily because the quality is better but winning the world cup is definitely harder than winning the champions League. It's not a higher standard of football. It's harder to win because in the CL you get a chance every year, instead of every 4.

Wayne Rooney has come out and said he fears Fergies book released on Tuesday will make fans turn on him... 1.Wow, I mean is he that stupid, he's done a good enough job of that himself. 2. I cant wait for this book to come out I dont read other than nuts or zoo, or FHM once a year, but this i'll make an exception.

I doubt the book will be too scathing of Rooney. With Rooney remaining at the club and Ferguson staying on as director, he won't want to rock the boat too much.

Can we stop with the world class debate please. Whatever the yardstick or definitions, he is not even close. For me, I tend to look at the ceiling and floor performances to put players in the WC category. Rooney's floor is pub player which he was close to yesterday. You will never, ever ever see anything remotely close from the likes of Ozil, Iniesta and all on their worst days.. Consistency is another major criteria for me and Roo has barely been that over the course of a season. 10/11 being the exception.

I hope he gives the cunt both barrels. Wanker scores a few goals and we're supposed to worship at the altar again.
Fuck that.

The same Fergie who openly talked about Rooney putting in a transfer request (which the club have pretty much acknowledged didn't actually happen, saying I want to go isn't the same as acually putting in an offical transfer request), if that wasn't "rocking the boat" what was it? I don't think Fergie gives the first flying fuck myself, as much as he loves the club. If he has something to say, he'll say it.

I must say, I am DE-lighted that Wayne Rooney is enjoying himself at United again. Surely this means he will be given a new bumper contract, will go to break Sir Bobby Charlton's United scoring record, continue keeping us from playing our best players in their best positions whereby our entire tactical set-up is stymied and regressive, and then asking to leave again when he is is deservedly dropped during one of his standard dips in form.
HOORAY!!!

Best attacking player for United this season by a mile. But detracts so much from us it makes me want to cry.
If he's going to be the main man at United, at the centre of everything we do, then he really needs to bring more of his team mates into the game. The stats really don't tell the whole story in this case. There's been many times when he could have played someone in for a simple shot, but instead his flat, useless strikes or over-hit curlers from distance are a regular feature.

Rooney has probably been our best player so far this season.
I still don't like the way he put himself in front of the team, not wanting to play in midfield.
Imagine if Scholes said that when Fergie asked him to convert into a midfielder. (Scholes has since revealed that he would have preferred to play as a striker rather than a midfielder, but he accepted the change because he understands that the team comes first.)
I'm going to wait until the season is over before making any verdict on Rooney, his commitment and attitude.

I doubt thats the case with scholes, when he was young he played almost as a second striker but scholes can play anyway thru midfield because he had the full game. Look what happened Alan Smith when he put the team first, he went from a promising striker to a very crap midfield player. You want to player where you can show your best, whats the point do anything else. You think Ronaldo would play in central midfield all season with no complaints?

It doesn't agree completely with me as well that people think Rooney is being unjustifiably cunty for wanting to play in his preferred role. That's not a valid excuse for disliking him. His performance, past attitude, definitely. If RVP is shoved into midfield to accommodate someone else I do not think he would like it, nor would he be wrong to say he doesn't like it. Not all players will be like Kagawa or Chico and go about their job without much complaint.
