23 caps for a poor French team at the age of 27. Not what I'd call established. 14 ahead of Cleverley who's got 4 years on him.
In all honesty I'd be disappointed if we signed Cabaye after the Thiago and Fabregas sagas. Hope there's legs in the Modric story.

Djibril Cisse is also an established French international (41 caps), it never made him a class striker.

Cleverley is an England international. So were James Beattie, Danny Murphy and Kieron Dyer. We can all name average players who've played for every country. What I'm saying is that if Cleverley was French, he wouldn't be getting picked.
It's not the point anyway really. My point was Cabaye is a better player than him.

And other peoples' point is that he isn't. A couple of season's ago, I would have taken Cabaye, but he has done nothing since then.

All those players were one or two cap wonders. Tom has played in every international he's been fit for since the start of last season. The comparison of Tom to the likes of those cloggers is downright insulting. There are times I think Utd fans are the polar opposite of Scousers. They think mediocre shite playing for them are the best in the world, we compare ours to Danny Murphy. Baffling.

I was more trying to say that it was pointless saying Cisse had x amount of caps for France when England have given caps to average players as well. As I said before, I don't dislike Cleverley and hopefully he'll improve given he's still young. But I do think Cabaye is better than some of what we have at this moment in time and thus would be an improvement. He's not my first choice obviously. Also Dyer isn't a one or two cap wonder. He's probably got miles more than you'd think.

Ah, fair enough. And again, I do like Cabaye as a player. But I think Fellani offers us something completely different.

Doesn't Dyer have about 30-odd caps? There was a period in the 2000s he always seemed in and around the England set-up for reasons I still don't understand.

When he was fit he was actually a pretty good player. Although him and fitness had a very volatile relationship. Or a Saha as its called. (Though this could soon be changed to a 'Smalling'')

Apparently he's got 33 caps. That's more than I actually thought he had as well. Mind you, anyone who was anywhere near quick got picked on the left for a period of time in the 2000's.

Never rated him. There was a game he played for Newcastle I watched when it looked like everytime he got on the ball an invisible force was drawing him to the left side of the pitch. Drove me mad.

Cabaye's a shithouse who goes missing when the going gets tough. Avoid!
