On subject, I would take Song if available. When Giggs goes full time and we sell Ando, our roster will again be quite thin in CM, so Song and Herrera will not be overkill at all. Song already has experience in the PL and would be great addition I think.
Add Coentrao to those 2 and you have a perfect transfer window.

Him and Carrick are both defensively minded so I cannot see us bringing another one in, especially when the main thing we seem to be lacking is creativity. If we somehow managed to bring in Song and Herrera and got rid of Anderson in January, we'd look considerably stronger. |

Didn't Song have a very high assist total in his final season at Arsenal, most of them to RVP? Anyway, don't see it happening even though I'd like it to.

Still very high for a centre mid. Indeed, when was the last time we had a central midfielder who reached double figures in goals or assists? Having a quick look, Scholes scored 14 goals in 02/03, can't think of anyone who could have beaten that since then. Even counting goals and assists together, Fletcher had one season totaling 11 in 09/10 but other than that, no other midfielder has reached double figures since Scholes in 04/05. Pretty shocking statistics, especially considering we have never really played with a DM. Maybe one day we'll find a true replacement for Scholes. |

Julian Draxler of Schalke, attacking mid, 20 years of age.
He's one of these guys who's been doing consistently well. Think he scored last night in the CL. I believe a few clubs are begining to realise how good this kid is.
I'd snap Schalke's hand off for Draxler.

He just signed a new contract this summer with a release clause of 45 mil euros. Seeing the gimps have problem paying Herrera's considerably lower clause, I would say this is pretty much out of our reach. |
