I hope Fellani can come good. I think he was a big overwhelmed but he needs to be helped tactically by the staff. Throwing him into a midfield two with Carrick has no chance. Let's hope the brains trust have come up with something in his absence. As 8 is Matas that's the end of Ando you'd think. Shame it didn't happen for him, thought he'd be huge for us. A couple of things on Cabaye- he's been very good snytime I've seen him playing for France. He was the best player on the pitch when Newcastle beat us but this was brushed under thd carpet by people that don't rate him. If he was say 18 mill he'd be a good buy. Any more then forget it. And if PSG go back in for him we need to be top of the queue for Matuidi. As it was, he was just huge ... Too easy. Agree that Fellaini has a chance to make it for us, and in a big way, but he definitely need to be given the proper platform. As you say, putting him in a two with Carrick (or, *Sigh* Giggs) was never going to make him look good. Also think Moyes wasn't really sure how to use him either, because when things don't work there is that natural temptation to revert to what worked. " ... a coach once told me that the hardest thing to do in sports is to walk into your Super Bowl locker room at half-time and change the strategy that got you there 'cause it's no longer working." (Martin Sheen [as President Bartlet], Red Mass, The West Wing.) Makes a lot of sense. I'm quite looking forward to see Fellaini -- Fletcher in tandem actually. Could produce something. On Cabaye: Ruling the roost over our midfield in recent years hasn't been difficult. He's better than most we have but he isn't better than the other options for either cheaper or equal price. It'd be a sideways move to me, and we can't afford any of those right now. We should never accept them really.

It would improve us as what we have is threadbare. I think he's prem proven and could slot in straight away. However if we miss out on him would I be devastated? No. Maybe that's revealing.

Devastated would be if we missed out on Matuidi at 8mill and ended up paying more than or 20Mil for Cabaye IMO. Let's not forget this was the player who wouldn't play for the bar-codes once gunners bid was rejected-- do we really want him when options are available. I can understand if none are available but we can go for Matuidi /Fernando before settling for Cabaye. Also with Mata saying more players are to come in - i wonder if we have discussed possible targets with him or given a hint or do we already have certain deals in place surprisingly really

'Sign for us, we're not accepting seventh place, and we're signing X, Y, Z superstars to prove it. You are the first in a line of world class players to rebuild this club from seventh upwards.'

I see both sides of the Cabaye discussion, whilst I agree we should be only going for the best for the foreseeable, I can also see our lack in CM that could mean us missing out on CL Football which would be the death bell for a lot of our Summer targets. So I would take him barring a better alternative becoming available this window. He is an immediate improvement and would become a great testament to our Summer business if he becomes a squad member next Season.
I was thinking Cabaye would be a good option for set pieces which would mean we could actually have a striker in the box rather than hitting them in, then I remembered we have Mata!!!

Cabaye would add further quality & general strength to the squad.

Taking a slightly different perspective. I hope Baines signing a new contract finally moves Moyes away from looking at Everton players. I think exposure to players like Mata may raise his confidence to do business in the bigger market place. His trip to Germany was a good sign. I can see lots of positives if Fergie has pressed him to move on and up. I like the press conference, maybe just maybe the Sunderland plus results have kicked enough bums back to focusing on the real footy needs. Personally I prefer the German options on show on Friday to Cabaye and others. Keep going for top club players, buy the best and only the best.

I like Cabaye. He stands out at NewFrance and plays well when he plays for France. When he was injured for NewFrance(Newcastle), they were nothing without him - NewFrance are 1pt behind us atm. If he is available for £15m - £20m, I think offensively, he will do a capable job for us from midfield.
But, I don't think he's a priority for us.
However, if it happens that Fellaini is finally used well tactically and grows a pair of legs, Cabaye - Fellaini - Fletcher Trio midfield might work well with Mata, Januzaj, Kagawa, RvP, Chicharito up front.

Whilst cabaye would add quality, the price tag is high. Matuidi is what we need and a lot less, even calvalho would cost less

With Mata signing and some players coming back, I'm starting to feel much more positive. A lot of work to be done to get in that top 4 which is a must. With the attacking threat looking better (by signing one player of quality. Who'd have thought), there really is no excuse. Looking unlikely, but a quality left back and a quality central midfielder, by the deadline, would be huge right now and will hopefully get us back where we need to be. Probably have to make do with what we have now. Please, no Young, no Giggs. Fast forward to Tuesday... Giggs Cleverley Valencia Ladnan Young Welbeck Mata, Kagawa bench

Rooney is back in training don't you know, and therefore must play as he is a God of all the football with no match nor equal. No, not even Ronaldo.

Moyes also explained he won’t stand for the disappointing form that has seen United exit two domestic cup competitions and lose considerable ground in the title race this term.
“I am not going to accept it,” the boss said. “I am disappointed we are not in a much stronger position. I am disappointed with how we have played. I ultimately take the rap for that – and I will do. But what I will do is make it right. I am going to get better players in. There will be more.
“Unfortunately, I don't think there will be more in January. But it will change. We will change and alter it around. I have said many times, I have given every player the opportunity to play and show what they can do. We have nearly done that now.
“The summer transfer window wasn't a good one for us. I was only just in the job. We were getting to know everyone and we had a new chief executive as well. I was getting to know the players and the squad. We have now had a pretty good chance to have a look at it. We have to start making some changes and we will try to make that happen.”

Mata, Kagawa bench It's sad because this could happen.
