I will say it again.
I would hope the targets we want are still playing in the CL so we HAVE to wait till the summer.
Like most i was expecting us to do more business today. But im not going to whine about Moyes/Woodward not doing anything as we simply don't know what truly is going on behind the scenes.

So the two glaringly obvious weaknesses in our team have once again been ignored, not only that we have loaned/sold our two reserve LBs, leaving us with Evra as our only LB (Buttner doesnt count). Genius. Is Tunnicliffe really worse than Giggs in CM? I cant believe Rene would want him if he is. Its just as well Valencia is the best winger in World Football, I have lost count of his goals and assists, he is so good infact that he needs no competition for his place, squad depth is vastly over-rated anyway. We are playing the worst Football I have seen in my 30 years of watching Manchester United. What is even worse than the quality of the Football is the lack of fight, the dropping of standards is scandalous. There is zero confidence. Whos to blame? Who has turned a side that have been Champions in 5 of the last 8 seasons to sub-Everton levels? Into a mirror image of his gormless self? David Moyes. Who is responsible for the worst decision in the History of Manchester United and who is too fucking stubborn to admit they fucked up big time and rectify their massive error? SAF. Moyes claimed he knew what was needed when he arrived, he did bid for Baines but Everton wouldnt play ball which is unfortunate for us as he is the only LB currently playing Football. Two windows have passed and we couldnt even find 1 LB! Seriously? Moyes is negative, he is tactically clueless and totally bereft of anything resembling a philosophy of play, never mind our usual exciting style that has attracted our World wide support (that isnt guaranteed to stick around for our Everton years). We need a manager that can get the best out of our players, not strip their confidence to shredds. Moyes needs to fuck off ASAP, if Fergie doesnt like it he can fuck off too. I have never disagreed with a post more than I have disagreed with this. |

How good is he? Don't watch too much Ligue 1 and haven't seen much of the U20s either.

Not surprised that Moyes couldn't get any of his CM targets. We'll have to make due until summer. And I can put my faith in Evra to last until then as well.
Mata will be enough to get us 4th. Our front 4 is scary now.

When I heard about the earlier press conference I must admit I had a little hope that it was brought forward to allow Moyes to concentrate on some last minute transfer dealings, quickly became apparent with his words that rather than conduct business late into the night he might just have wanted to sod off home for a relaxing evening -- we need transfers but it definitely not looking like there will be anymore now  That Otamendi rumour, no ta, CB isn't our area for concern in defense, plus I am sure he is sh*t and would be no improvement on our current defensive offerings ...unless he plays superbly at LB as a secondary position, which I can't imagine being the case. Not too happy with all these U21s being loaned out, Blackett especially. At least our senior & U21s squads are looking consistent -- they are both rather threadbare with all the outgoings. Which is something I don't appreciate for our senior side who are going to have to buck up and play out of their skin if they are to secure 4th, and now we are lacking in depth, quality depth at that. A small squad may have worked at Everton Moyes when they were competitors in three competitions a season with barely any pressure to succeed, but we're used to FOUR and for that we need a larger squad who are expected to win at least one trophy a season, and our squad is becoming embarrassingly thin and lacking quality throughout. Nothing like over confidence to fool the foolish. A 2-0 win over bottom club Cardiff when they had greater possession was not altogether convincing in the end. We splash out on Mata and there was this great moment for bringing in one or two others to firm up the rest of the season. Instead we stop again. I suppose DD/Deadwood are banking on getting good results against Stoke, Fulham and Olympik, to cover their bums and 4th place.
Have they taken on board that we are now in a direct head to head with the Scousers for 4th place? Their 4-0 was a statement mid-week about staying above us to the end of the season. This is a psychological war with the Scousers that Fergie recognised years ago that we have to stay above or on top of them. Yet our response has been a confusion of loaning out players, non-replaced injuries and continuation with players of indifferent form; but no further buys. Meanwhile the central/support midfield looks threadbare. Do we still remember MF who has played barely a couple of games, cost £27million and now virtually ignored.
After Mata there was the trip to Germany and hopes were rising and then it all dissolved. This has been a very confused season from the outset and has strangely deepened in the last few days since Mata's arrival. I really don't understand DD but then I have never been an Everton supporter and don't fully comprehend mid-table thinking.

I'm not sure we'll make fourth with this squad to be honest.
Mata is great, we'll score a little more probably, but teams will still be waltzing through our midfield and keeping the ball from us, at home.

Our front 4 is scary now. We will just have to rely on the power of the front four, "attack is the best form of defense" will have to be our tactic from here on out. Only hope we are able to get the ball and have enough of the possession to be able to feed them to attack. |

My fear with us being owned on our own turf so frequently now is that teams will (if they haven't already) lose the fear factor when visiting OT, all the reputation that has built up over the years has quickly vanished. |
