Not surprised that Moyes couldn't get any of his CM targets. We'll have to make due until summer. And I can put my faith in Evra to last until then as well. Mata will be enough to get us 4th. Our front 4 is scary now. We will just have to rely on the power of the front four, "attack is the best form of defense" will have to be our tactic from here on out. Only hope we are able to get the ball and have enough of the possession to be able to feed them to attack. Its just a pity that we have a defensively minded manager. In Carricks absence we need to play Petrucci as he can get the ball forward, his passing is top drawer, he is nearing retirement and still hasnt played for the first team ffs. If he isnt good enough to step up when needed why is he still here?

I'm quite glad that he came out early and said we're not making any signings. -Saves me looking at bbc all day

We won't be playing youngsters, we can all forget talking about it. Januzaj was a fortunate exception. If Zaha can't get a run out what makes people think Petrucci or Blackett will, or anyone else.

I'm keeping my powder dry on Moyes and Woodward until after the summer window closes. If at that point they haven't delivered a top class centre mid and a top class, defensively capable left back, then they both can do one. This is only after Moyes has gotten top four. If he doesn't he can do one then as well.

Petrucci is nowhere near good enough.

Also, I'm quite disappointed in the sale of Fabio. If Evra gets injured we are going to rely on Buttner for a run of games?
Are we getting Shaw, def not, Coentrao? Hate to day it but everyone got real excited on that "done deal".
Fabio went from a CL final he did decent in to obscurity, why?
Based on his last performance (dismissed) and his sale, I would believe that some players have lost faith in Moyes and their futures at the club.
Just an observation.

If we are looking to the reserves/ youths to fix midfield then Powell is the only one that is physically ready. Pearson and particularly Perreria will be bit are both kids and need to go down the loan route.
Powell is the one.

Evra is hopeless defensively and Buttner is worse. If they weren't bringing someone in then maybe it makes little sense to me. Unless he rates Buttner......

Well, Fernando is apparently Man City's prime target, he's been left out of the squad for tomorrows match and Porto have reportedly dropped their high asking price ...another midfielder on the move and not to us

Based on pre-season it seemed if we saw any youngsters we would see a bit of Lingard and Zaha. Well..
What about Powell, seems he's doing well on loan, but after a impressive debut he disappeared as well.
Said this last year, what are you gaining from continually playing Giggs in the middle... Nothing. We continually get demolished in midfield and the youngsters are farther and farther away from stamping down places in the squad.
Really the Pogba saga and the signing of Fellaini summarize a big issue at the club recently... disregarding promising talent and obvious selection shortfalls and while we plug holes with players playing out of position and uncertainty of player roles.

Problem I have with Powell at Wigan is that he is being developed by them in the wrong position for us; he is regularly getting game time, but as a deep lying stiker, I wouldn't even call it borderline AM, he is their main goal threat so they stick him up front where the ball is played up to him meaning he isn't getting the time on the ball to develop creatively as a midfielder, or even an attacking mid.

Only hope we are able to get the ball and have enough of the possession to be able to feed them to attack. Given their track record since December I wouldn't place my faith in the front players. I also don't think we can be called an attacking or counter-attacking side. I would say we are a defensive side with odd moments of attacking when the opponents retreat or defend deep. We see traces of the old attack but one defensive blunder and the whole team is at sea again. This is the most indecisive United team certainly since early Fergie days. Their is no real sense of of who we are and what we're trying to do. Its more a bunch of individuals with massive fluctuations. For example Valencia, Rafa and Mata were good on the right against Cardiff but Young, Evra etc were just individuals playing their own game without supporting or assisting each other. The midfield was a drift, nowhere to be seen, and the defence just struggled through. Indeed I wish I could see a semblance of an attacking, defending or something ethos because what we have at the moment is understood by very few and has become this season's joke for everyone else. Even in press conferences Moyes expresses nothing of solid worth to indicate to anybody where all this is leading. Ask again why he was selected: 1. Safe pair of hands - well that hasn't worked. 2. Cautious - no - £65 million spent on players and thus far less than half a dozen games from them. 3. Change manager - yes - from champions to pantomime horse in six months. 4. Defensive - no - we have leaked all season, bought two attacking midfielders and loaned out on capable fullback. 5. Creative football from scraps - yes - if you like Salvador Dali style art work. Actually it's been horrible. 6. Defeatism - yes - he has engineered all of us away from thinking like champions and living with the average. 7. Attractive football - no - enough said? Long term even if we secure the promises of five or six world class players in the future, and the lack of CL footy places that in doubt, I am not sure Moyes has the creativity or guile to do anything with them. Promises are like tomorrow - they never come and cost nowt. All promises do is temporarily remove searching questions from the press and the fans to a later date or time. However, I do think promises have now become United policy and the means to hold off those deep searching questions. I bet £100 pounds, and I'm not a gambler, we see the same old promises in the summer. Thus far Moyes, without the promises, has proven that you can take a team of established champions and turn them into mid table also rans. Worse the team of passion and fight have become weak and sulk away. Greater managers have been sacked for less.
