Emile Heskey won 62 caps, Matt Le Tessier won 8. Ray Wilkins won 84 caps, Glenn Hoddle won 53. Carlton Palmer won 18 caps, I don't need any other player to compare that to! James Milner has currently won 41 international caps, since making his debut in 2009. That is an average of 10.25 caps per year. He is 27 years old, if he keeps making appearances at this rate then James Milner, JAMES MILNER, will reach a century of international games by the time he is 32. Ladies and gentleman, I give you, English football. Steve Bruce 0. That Le Tiessier Heskey stat is astonishing. Le Tissier was a genius. A goal every two games with some of the greatest EPL goals ever scored, whereas Heskey is too shit for the A-League. Absolute disgrace. It's not just Steve Bruce 0, though that in itself is astonishing. But when you also realise Keith Curle KEITH CURLE won 3 caps, well, that's just jaw dropping really.

This thread is brilliant. Getting all the capped comparisons together proves it isn't a one-off. You always see a mediocre player maybe getting the occasional fluke international cap for the footballing 'superpowers' but these show England do consistently pick those players at the expense of genuinely world class players.
Le Tissier got 8 caps, what a disgrace.

There was a video about England's greatest blunders and wankers with the turnip and all the other idiots. It's quite amazing seeing the dross that were given caps. They'd more money they gave managers like Ericson the worse it got. Corrupt at the head, it's no wonder England remain crap.

According to the enlightened Joey Barton the coaching system in England is shite and , brace yourselves , Sir Alex Ferguson couldn't coach to save his life.
I do not know where to begin. Poor Joey . Feel for him. It says a lot when a footballer is publicised for his mouth rather than his feet. I feel for him . My complete sympathy for him and his family .

4-1 win against Montenegro. Not bad. Rooney on the scoresheet, and Townsend with a good goal.
