I can see Robson in Jones.
Robson shirked from nothing, ever. It was a great quality and it made him the outstanding midfielder of his generation, but it also meant he picked up a succession of injuries. You can't be so committed all of the time, knocks will come.
Jones is like that. He may calm a bit as he gets older, or he may not. Robson didn't.

Although i never seen Robson live from the footage i have seen of him he never pulled out of a challenge, I love that aspect in a player but is it worth getting injured constantly? To see a player of Jones potential constantly on the sidelines is disappointing, i hope he learns sooner rather than later. As for Matic ,it is such a shame we didnt even have the slightest interest in him, he would have been ideal. Im starting to say that about every midfielder that transfers to another club but its true....

That's a massive call Daz. I'd fookin take it though. Just not so sure he'd be mobile enough in that busy area of the pitch.

And so it begins, Vidic confirms he will leave the club in the summer Guaranteed its to do with the "chosen one". Cunt. Great servant for the club and will be missed.

Na, wasn't saying he's like him as potential great midfielder, I see Jones as a long term centre back. Just that he's like him in his commitment, and the way he flings himself at everything. When he was young Robson broke his leg 3 times in one season. That's the type of thing you could imagine happening to Jones; soon as he feels the leg is healed he's back smashing into opponents and Bang, it's gone again.

So with Vida, Pat & Rio seemingly out the door, has Dithering Dave made an even bigger error than the midfield chasm in not bringing in any defenders?
Considering Jones cannot stay fit, Smalling gets played as right back cover and Buttner is not European Cup material.
Garay, to me, does not fall into the top bracket of central defenders, whilst we've let Zouma go to Chelsea.

Am I alone in thinking that Evra and Vidic could have been kept on for another season whilst we strengthened and added to the problematic midfield area.
i thought we were a club that used to bring players through whilst keeping some experienced players whilst we added to the squad, this is starting to look like we are going to need complete replacement of the back four in one go. Or is this just systematic of us letting too many players hit the age of 30 odd at the same time
Does worry me when the new management team has managed to piss off Van Persie , Evra , Vidic, Rio, ZAha and with the exception of Mata have not strengthened at all , undecided as yet if Fellaini is actually strengthening although I am really hoping he comes good.

The transfer fee bill in the summer is going to be absolutely phenomenal at this rate. Every club knows Moyes is desperate to overhaul the squad, they know United can pay a big fee (albeit not as big as City, Chelsea etc..) and he already needs a big injection of talent into the midfield. Now with Vidic and likely Evra and Ferdinand leaving, he also needs reinforcements with the defence. Hopefully it will also mean there's a chance of some youth being promoted but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

No. Moyes is a fucking goon, as everything you have written there is correct. The transfer fee bill in the summer is going to be absolutely phenomenal at this rate. There is a dearth of top rate centre halves out there that are realistic. Garay is good but lacks pace. Mangala is good but 35 million? The Roma guy is decent. Why weren't we in for Zouma if we knew this was coming?

Moyes hasn't got time to risk playing the youngsters. The summer he has to BUY named players really... If he tries and does a Fergie playing 5 youngsters with what will be the new "Seniors" it will crumble in a heap and he will be out of a job by Jan.
He simple can not afford to be 12 points off the top by Jan. Even though we all would like our youngsters to have a go.. times have changed its all about the money!
I'm actually not sad that we will lose Evra, Rio & Vidic.. granted all at their peaks were phenomenal! all great servants to the club and fantastic captains and roll models. However it comes to a time to move and all 3 are past their best. My worry is.. this question has been said before. Do i Trust Moyes to buy decent level replacements? NO is the answer. I shall await the stories in the rags to linking us with phil jagielka

Well, we're 15 points off the top in Febrauary. Exactly how much more crumbling could we do with trying a few of the youth prospects?
And as you agree, we can't even be sure Moyes knows a top-class replacement to what hwe have. Doesn't even need to be top class right now. Just better than what we have.
ProTip David: That doesn't mean Phil "Y"agielka.
