That new CB looks some player. I like how he carries the ball forward confidently!

Still think Evans is a shout. I know some are scathing about him and he's had a dreadful first couple of competitive games, but if he can get used to the system or we go back to 4- then he'll still be on of our best CBs. Academy graduate, genuinely adores the club, and a really nice lad to boot. Plus he talk to the defence around him, which I like in a captain. Good on the ball too (usually!) which you'd imagine van Gaal would like. If he cab regain his form I agree. Had a made of a start though. I do sumpathise with him a little as he basically been destroyed by people. Yet when you look at the likes of Rooney who IMO has been equally as shit and not had half the abuse Evans has is quite poor on the supporters part. According to the gobshite Neil Custis of The Sun, Jones has fourmonths to prove his worth or he is gone. Where do these pricks get them from?

Anyone think Van Gaal was talking about Wayne when discussing 'commercial commitments'? Yep, and I also think that perhaps there is some ulterior motive in this as well. With the focus on the armband, if Rooney doesn't step up and show he should be wearing it, much easier to bench him, or even transfer him. Maybe we can trade him to Dortmund for Hummels and Rooney can play back up to Kags I know ^^ is probably a joke, but Dortmund will not take Rooney even on a free transfer. He just doesnt fit into their system. The Dortmund system is all about quick movement and selflessly playing for each other.

, Exactly the same kind of system that I see LvG wanting to see at United. Takes a very strong manager to get professional athletes to put aside personal statistics and play that way. Also takes a strong Captain to keep his teammates focused. Seems to me when Rooney is at his best is when he gets into the flow of the game and plays instinctive football, reacting to what is happening without thinking about it. Leadership is something that should also be instinctive, IMO something that is a fairly rare quality. Getting a big pay hike, or being made Captain puts pressure on a player to live up to the circumstances. I've seen a lot of Professionals, in all sports, that seem to fall flat after a big transfer, or other "thing" which puts extra pressure on them. Makes me wonder if perhaps the Captain's arm band is causing Rooney to "over think" what he is doing insteal of just getting into the flow of the match and letting it come to him,?

This is a moment that Woodtard will surely bask in after the signings this summer, but without LvG coming in, and the 'Clueless One' still at the helm, no way in hell do we get these transfers...

Agree with that. I've got a question for the old timers, (I'm still trying to learn the clubs history going back) If the new players come in and get settled quickly, and the youngsters keep developing I could see this summer as a Historic moment in the clubs history. Is this potentially the best transfer window the club has had? Is Ed gonna get his name mentioned 30 years or so from now as a "legend" for what he was part of accomplishing?

The funny thing about that question is in the old days the CEO was almost never mentioned. The manager did most of the work. Contracts have gotten crazy & can't be negotiated by a manager so this is probably the first time we've had a CEO this scrutinised. Gill was protected by Ferguson really. I think Woodward will be big for us. We might lose a bit of the old though because he seems to want United to be a Galactico but he'll sign some great players for us.
