Just an observation after tonight's game. I have been very critical of Bambi or Welbz in the past for his scattergun finishing. But I stand by the point I made about his move to the Arse- that Wenger would take his raw, technical quality and make him a better player. Watching him tonight took me back to when another pacy wingeresque player arrived at Highbury in 99-00, and what he became when he left seven years later under Wenger's tutelage. Now Welbeck is no Henry, but I have no doubt that Wenger will be able to iron out his rough edges and he may become devastating under him, and it is bloody frustrating that he could not have developed the same way under us. A missed opportunity maybe? We will see how this pans out. If he is as successful as old Terry Henry, 16m suddenly appears like theft on Arsenal's part, who signed the Frenchman for 11m. He's getting nowhere near Henry

Yes I know what I've written thanks. It is a hypothetical scenario; it doesn't mean he will turn out like Henry. But you cannot deny Wenger has a record in improving players and I think you will see that in Welbeck, who has the raw materials which our coaches, for whatever reason, could not polish. So he stagnated and then threatened to fall away altogether with the arrival of Moyes. At Arsenal, with the technical, fluid players they have, you will see his touch and finishing will improve. Cleverly? Forget it. He is going to Villa with Paul Lambert, no comparison.

Being forced into agreeing with Joey Barton Doesn't that fit into a category of "Cruel and Unusual" punishment?? Ought to be some kinda actionable suit that could be formed from something like that. Surely the worst mis-use of talent I've ever seen since being a United fan (with possible exception of making Rooney Captain, but that might be abuse of talent, since the side he is Captain of is damn near to a man more talented than he) As a fan of Football I'm glad he is back at Dortmund, where I can watch him play instead of watching him sit. How about us leaving Berbatov on the bench so Mickey Owen could play in the Champions League final? Aye, that one sucked, but one game, even a final, isn't a whole season of sitting. Remember Kag's saying that when he was a kid playing in his yard he was day dreaming of winning matches for Manchester United. Could have been PR, but it felt sincere. Meh, not going to think of Moyes any more, still can see United players with their heads down, acting like they wanted the whistle to blow, instead of remembering that United wins games in "Fergie Time" I hated that Deputy Dog looking fooker by 3rd or 4th match of the year, and went from forcing myself to try and find something positive and support him like Fergie asked. Was fooked up for me, had to have been brutal for guys/gals that have been 50 years supporting the club

Patrick Kluivert insists that he has “no doubt” that Louis van Gaal will get things right at Old Trafford and that it is merely a matter of time before United fulfil the potential that their pre-season form promised.
The Reds impressed heading in to the new campaign with high scoring victories over LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Real Madrid and Liverpool however goals and victories have been conspicuous by their absence since competitive action got underway in August.
In that time United have taken just two Premier League points from a possible nine and were humiliated in the Capital One Cup by League One side MK Dons.
Yet Kluivert who played under Van Gaal at Ajax and Barcelona and worked for him as part of the Netherlands backroom staff at the World Cup during the summer, believes that the deadline day acquisitions of Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind along with the signing of Angel Di Maria for a British record transfer fee will propel the club forward after its stuttering start.
“The games in America in pre-season were fantastic and led everyone to think big in terms of how United were going to start the season but I am confident now that the transfer window has closed and United have brought in those last signings,” Kluivert said.
“Things will and have to turn around for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal but he will be able to manage that team to play well and to perform at the best of their abilities.
“Daley Blind is a very intelligent player who reads the game very well. Everyone saw him at the World Cup where he played all the games for the Dutch national team as a left wing-back and as someone who sat in front of the defence.
“He can be a key man between the defence, midfield and the strikers to dictate the tempo of the game."

While United will be looking to kick-start their season with a win over QPR this Sunday which would extend their unbeaten run over newly promoted teams to 30 games, Kluivert brushed aside criticism of his former mentor’s decision to utilise the 3-5-2 formation that served the Dutch so well in Brazil but is yet to deliver results for the Reds.
Kluivert who knows Van Gaal’s tactics better than most after coming through the fluid Ajax system under him to score the winner in the 1995 Champions League final while still an 18-year-old also issued a warning to United’s under-performing stars insisting that players make the system and that their own personal preferences may have to be put aside for the good of the team.
“3-5-2 is a very difficult system to play against but he can change it and he will change the system but it will depend on the opponents and which players he has available,” Kluivert added.
“With the players he has he can go 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 or to another system but the most important thing is that the players get used to it and adapt to how he wants them to play.
“The games against Real Madrid and Liverpool in pre-season in America they played great football and won their matches so I have no doubts that he’ll do great during the season.
“He will manage to find a balance to his team that’s for sure but with so many great players in his team everyone has to underestimate themselves - the team is the most important thing.
“Some players may prefer to play in the hole behind the strikers and between the midfield but I think Louis has got everything sorted out (in his mind). When he gets a win and then another, more will follow.
“If Robin (van Persie) is one hundred percent fit he’ll probably start because he has the confidence of the trainer and the new signing Falcao is also very important but it will be very easy to play both together up top.”

i don't think it's just one thing.. but i think he's right. there's a clear lack of confidence around the squad. wingers afraid of taking on a defender. midfielders afraid to get on the ball. all for fear of messing up and having the crowd on their back. coupled with that, he never truly excelled at united to the levels of being di maria class. i wish him all the best and hope he goes permanently in jan so we get a bit of cash for developing him into the player he is.

He's right, he's been given a disgraceful beating from our own supporters. I'm ashamed of the fuckwits on Twitter who celebrated him leaving and everything before that. What ever happened to the 'United' in United. Tom really was one of us, and now he feels like he could never play for us again.
Shameful.
