Am I being cynical if I suggest that this is a massive anti-climax totally unbefitting the legend that is Ryan Giggs? This man deserves an open top parade, a national holiday and a knighthood to commentate the career he's had and the massive contribution he's made to this football club. However, the last few years of "not as good as he once was" performances, and being forced to manage the club because the recently sacked manager was a complete moron meant he hasn't received the send off he truly deserves. Giggs is certainly the greatest servant this club has had in my lifetime (pre Ser Bobby) and might end up being the greatest ever. Everything great about this club, every trophy we've won, all the near misses, everything we believe this club holds dear and everything we believe it may become again is embodied in this man. If he follows in the footsteps of LvG's other famous number twos he just might be the Ser Bobby of our time. I agree i thought their would have been a lot more made of him retiring. We are talking about the best player in our clubs history imo. The greatest player ever to grace the Premiership and their has been fuck all said about it. I am not saying this to be funny. But it is Moyes' fault in a way...

I was watching the 93/94 season review last night & still can't believe how underated his vision is. Best final ball i've ever seen. I'll miss Vida, Rio & Evra but this is the biggest (player) retirement in my lifetime. Thank god Adnan softens the blow a bit.

Greatest assister ever. Christ. In nearly half the games he played he either assisted or scored. Legend.

Sad he never made it to 1000 games - he was still capable of carrying on as a squad player for a couple of years IMO He had that freaky fitness gene and lived his life right for 20 odd years - I wish I had

According to Who Scored Messi has 87 assists in his career, although his goal record is insane it shows how impressive that record is.

Just watching ESPN. Raul just said Giggs and Messi are the best players he played against. Good man!

Could our Annual Injury Crisis be better if Giggsy was also in some way our fitness man as well. He had his own share of injuries and Hamstring problems and he found a way to tackle it and remain fairly injury free in his days.
I am pretty sure he'd have a thing or two to share with the players

I'd rather be a squad member at United than a superstar at Liverpool Actually I'd rather be the bloke who cuts the oranges in a sunday league game than a superstar at Liverpool
