RYAN GIGGS EXHIBITION OPENS AT OLD TRAFFORD Manchester United assistant manager and club legend Ryan Giggs officially opened a dedicated exhibition on Friday as the Museum and Tour at Old Trafford celebrates his illustrious career.
After making his debut in 1991, Giggs made 963 appearances for United, scoring 168 goals and winning a record haul of medals and accolades. The dedicated retrospective allows fans to view some of his most treasured possessions from his career, which are on display for the very first time. Ryan Giggs: The Man For All Seasons comprises over 40 exclusive items, including Giggs’ Treble medals, his FIFA Club World Cup medal and the ball from his very first Manchester United goal. The exhibition also features objects relating to Giggs’ personal achievements such as his PFA Player of the Year Award and BBC Sports Personality of the Year award from 2009, and his OBE, awarded for his services to football in 2007. Items that are to be displayed for the first time include: · Signed shirt from final season as a United player 2013/14 · Ball from Manchester United v Manchester City, 4 May 1991, when Ryan scored his first United goal · Ryan's training top from his time as coach/manager 2014 · Premier League winners medals 2013, 2011, 2009, 2008 · Champions League winners medal 2008 · FIFA Club World Cup winners medal 2008 · Ryan’s OBE · PFA Player of the Year Award 2009 · Deans Youth Club Player of the Year Award 1987 · BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award 2009 · Manchester United Lifetime Achievement award 2014 · Football boots from 2008 Champions League final The interactive exhibition allows visitors to zoom in and examine up close some of Ryan’s medals. There are also several specially-recorded interviews with the man himself, in which he details his personal career highlights. Diehard fans of the Welsh winger can also test their knowledge with a quiz about his career. Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold comments: “There are very few players who can boast a CV like Ryan’s. He is one of the most decorated British sportsmen of our time with a career spanning across more than two decades. His achievements are a big part of the club’s history and the Museum’s dedicated exhibition gives fans a chance to relive some of those celebrated moments. “Many of the pieces on display are from Ryan’s personal collection and we are delighted to be able to share these with fans for the very first time. The Manchester United Museum and Tour is an award winning attraction, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each season and I am sure the addition of Ryan Giggs: The Man For All Seasons will make it all the more popular with our fans.” Ryan Giggs says: "It is a great honour to have an exhibition dedicated to my time at Manchester United. I have spent my whole career at the same club and I am proud to have played a part in United’s achievements over the past few decades. “My family and I have enjoyed visiting the Manchester United Museum several times and to see the story of my career on display alongside so many United greats makes me very proud. “Many of the items on display have never been seen by the public and the ones I've chosen to loan to the Museum are the ones that mean the most to me. I am delighted to be able to share these special mementos with the fans.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Club-News/2015/Jul/Ryan-Giggs-opens-dedicated-exhibition-at-Manchester-United-Museum.aspx

His on field battles with Teves and others are well documented...He bled Devil Red, and the way that he was shown the door is beyond my natural comprehension...maybe you can tell me wtf Rafa did?

I'm honestly at a loss to quite understand how it is that Rafa has been "Dissed" I find it a bit difficult to believe that a professional football manager, who's job is on the line if he isn't fielding the best possible club he can, would risk his won lost record to "dis" a player.

Don't take me wrong, Rafa made great games under Fergie and I like him very much. However, the difference between those times and now is that Rafael is always injured hence a drop of quality in his football. He's better than Valencia at the RB and he should be, Antonio is a midfielder, but amongst with Carrick, he's the player out for about half of the season whilst Valencia rarely is. I wouldn't attribute the fault to Giggs, it makes no sense. I'm quite sure Rafa knows our medical department better than his teammates

Rafa played with great fire and great heart, I don't know that the issue was injuries as his style of play just didn't suit what LvG was looking for, Rafa could play flawless football for 80 minutes then get wound up and do something a bit crazy. I really believe van Gaal would have given him every chance to get into the starting XI, but I just don't feel like he was treated with "disrespect" I am a fan of Rafa, hell I was, still am, a fan of Falcao and I always rated Clev and hoped he get back to pre-injury form. Sometimes a player doesn't fit into the managers "philosophy", but that isn't disrespect, it just is what it is

Could our Annual Injury Crisis be better if Giggsy was also in some way our fitness man as well. He had his own share of injuries and Hamstring problems and he found a way to tackle it and remain fairly injury free in his days. I am pretty sure he'd have a thing or two to share with the players He probably does put his 2 penneth in, dont they all do yoga now? Think Rio mentioned it a couple of years ago in the press. Maybe it was just the elder players.

I'll put this here, as i dont want to derail the thread in which it was originally posted: Instead of Giggs. Giggs should never be our manager. Taken a little out of context. however i am curious about the forum's view on this (and your reasons also Bestie if you don't mind). I am somewhat torn about if i want him to be the next manager. to be honest i would prefer that he understudy somebody more adventurous in their footballing 'philosophy', as LvG seems to be more a possession manager (read defensive ah la Maureen) than an attacking one. Giggs has had two decades watching the best that has ever done it, but i still think he has more to learn before he takes over the top spot. the risk is that if the Club goes too young for the next manager then Giggs will see his path blocked for a very long time. An Acelotti appointment would be the best solution IMHO. as to whether he will be available in 20 months is highly unlikely. I would however like Giggs to try his hand as manager again though. hence why im curious about how many dont want him and why. he seems a natural choice.

As I mentioned before on another thread somewhere else. Giggsy should hit the managerial trail away from United, he lives too much in the shadow of SAF and no one could achieve what SAF did at United. Bruce, Keane, Robson, Coppell etc have tried it somewhere else and never got anywhere near what SAF achieved. We have too move on. Ginger, Neville have never thought about managing United and chose media work as their bread and butter. I think Giggsy should do the same. Seeing him sitting beside LVG he looks like he is lost in a dream world. I love Giggsy too the bottom of my heart but becoming manager of United, no, sorry. My opinion only and others may differ.

Ancelotti certainly ain't the answer.
He can't build a squad to save his life. He is used to inheriting ready made squads. Ours still needs work.
And we should be looking long term, not short term in the hope that Giggs has the future ability to take over.
