The transfer of Angel di Maria to Manchester United is well underway according to all kinds of media reports in Spain. Marca says on Saturday that Di Maria and Manchester United are deep into personal terms negotiations and that the player knows '100%' he'll soon be out of the Real Madrid door. Di Maria was excellent in the first leg of the Spanish super cup against Atletico Madrid after coming on as a substitute, he changed the game in Real Madrid's favour and Diego Simeone labelled him the best player at the club. Carlo Ancelotti heaped praise on Di Maria too and said that although the player had asked to leave the would still be picked until he left the club, or the transfer window closed. That quickly proved not to be the case and Di Maria was left out of the Real Madrid squad for the match against Atletico on Friday night. Real Madrid lost, missing the impact that Di Maria had made in the first leg. Then followed various Spanish journalists being quoted by outlets such as Radio Marca, saying Di Maria was most likely to end up at Manchester United. PSG can't make the deal happen and AS Monaco was perhaps never a goer. A Manchester United move, as far as the Spanish press are concerned, looks on. El Confidencial have said Real Madrid now want €65m and that Manchester United is the club pressing the most. That Spanish outlet said quite some time ago that Real Madrid had enlisted Jorge Mendes to sort some transfers out for them. The plan was to sign James Rodriguez and send Di Maria to Manchester United, one down and one to go.

Di Maria is an excellent player and all, but if we are spending 60M on a player it should be Vidal (or should have been on Kroos and Fabregas). What good it is if we have a brilliant front line when the players behind them (bar De Gea) are pretty much mediocre.
If we managed to pack Khedira in that deal then I might forgive (just a bit) that asshole pretending to be our executive vice-chairman....

I'd go as far as saying Di Maria woiuld be a massive signing - let's not be blinded by desperation - our prime midfield targets of world class ability that were gettable and keen are injured.
Di Maria would be immense not only because he's a top, top class player that'll add pace, goals and assists, but as a statement to the rest of Europe to show we can still attract the best players in the World.

The thing that keeps me hopeful is that Louis has actually mentioned AdM by name in a recent presser. There MUST be interest.

SocialRMadrid @socialrmadrid Manchester United haven't contacted Real Madrid yet for Di Maria. [Cadena COPE] Perhaps United deliberately haven't made contact yet so that they can prove to us all that a transfer CAN be done in 24 hours.

SOrry to piss on the party but hate to say this is still the usual way all our transfer pages sagas are. The initial scekptism, then the LUHG , then optimism flashes, then suddenly a sense of euphoria leading to Carb's famous GIF ( which i really love) only to end with tears and a f'ed up story.
NO NO NO -- not until its Official
