With the coming fixture in-mind, this game was pretty special. Andy Gray said it all - 'one touch football ... the finest quality'. Scholes outshone Ruud! Great days....

On this day in 1995........ I was working in Ladbrokes (with the psycho bitch I was living with) and had the game up on teletext and just stood there in amazement by the end Plenty of celebratory podging that night .. two weeks later she was ripping the door off a wardrobe with her bare hands

Good read this about the match on the Official site.
04/03/2015 10:49, Report by Steve Bartram 1 of 3 Next Record win revisited: United 9 Ipswich 0 Two decades on and still a Premier League record, Manchester United’s obliteration of Ipswich Town on 4 March 1995 remains a unique afternoon in the club’s all-time history… Midway through his pre-match team talk on Saturday, 4 March 1995, Alex Ferguson suddenly fell silent, aware of another sound vying for his players’ attention. The room collectively turned towards Britain’s most expensive footballer, little over two months a Manchester United employee, and stared. Andy Cole answered his mobile phone. Noting the stunned expressions of his colleagues and management, the £7 million man quickly curtailed the call and hung up. His day would improve markedly thereafter. Dumbstruck, Ferguson delivered the remainder of his instructions. The Scot needn’t have worried about motivating his side for the afternoon’s visit of Ipswich Town, however. For some, the incentive to overcome the struggling Suffolkers had been established six months previously, when the sides met at Portman Road................www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Features/2015/Mar/Manchester-United-9-Ipswich-Town-0-Premier-League-record-win-revisited-4-March-1995.aspx

On this day in 1995........ I was also there. We booed Cole from the Stretty when he missed a couple of chances after his 5th goal. Heady days even without Eric.

The one against Newcastle with Ruud and Ole up front...

One for a few of the older gents:
Remember listening to this on the radio. We'd finished 11th the previous season, Arsenal were Champions. Then we tank them on the opening day of the season. Thought we were in for a great season, by Christmas we were down by the relegation places!
Still, ended up back in mid table and won the FA Cup. All in all it wasn't a bad season.
