Am I the only Brit who didn't like Benny Hill? Benny was ok but a bit like the Russ Abbot comedy shows. I preferred Dick Emery if any but all their comedy shows seemed to follow the same pattern. The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise beat the three of them hands down.

Benny Hill and Russ Abbott were very childish IMO - I liked Dick Emery (and Stanley Baxter) but their act was very limited Two Ronnies and M&W were more varied and had longer lasting appeal I have no idea who is popular at the moment

The BeeB once upon a time could knock out comedians and comedy shows by the dozen but nowadays its gone dead. Me and the wife like Mrs Browns Boys because that is live acting in front of a live audience and not canned laughter like a lot of others.

Once bitten by Billy Connolly in 1976 that was me done. Saw him live for the first time at Uni in 1978. Had to be carried out the hall I laughed so much. Roman Atkinson nearly achieved the same in 1985 during his live show but not quite the same raw humour.

Oh, I learned that it takes the first rain in six months to make me realize there is a hole in my god damn shoe. FML! From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A shoe is an item of footwear intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities. Shoes are also used as an item of decoration. The design of shoes has varied enormously through time and from culture to culture, with appearance originally being tied to function. Additionally, fashion has often dictated many design elements, such as whether shoes have very high heels or flat ones. Contemporary footwear varies widely in style, complexity and cost. Basic sandals may consist of only a thin sole and simple strap. High fashion shoes may be made of very expensive materials in complex construction and sell for thousands of dollars a pair. Other shoes are for very specific purposes, such as boots designed specifically for mountaineering or skiing. Traditionally, shoes have been made from leather, wood or canvas, but are increasingly made from rubber, plastics, and other petrochemical-derived materials. The foot contains more bones than any other single part of the body. Though it has evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in relation to vastly varied terrain and climate conditions, the foot is still vulnerable to environmental hazards such as sharp rocks and hot ground, against which, shoes can protect. The oldest known leather shoe, about 5500 years old, found in Armenia.

I went from Wednesday last week to this Monday without wearing socks Getting back on track now, keep DiegoRed happy. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A sock is an item of clothing worn on the feet. The foot is among the heaviest producers of sweat in the body, as it can produce over 0.25 US pints (0.12 l) of perspiration per day. Socks help to absorb this sweat and draw it to areas where air can evaporate the perspiration. In cold environments, socks decrease the risk of frostbite.
The earliest known surviving pair of socks, created by naalbinding. Dating from 300-500AD these were excavated from Oxyrhynchus on the Nile in Egypt. The split toes were designed for use with sandals. On display in the Victoria and Albert museum, reference 2085&A-1900.
12th-century cotton sock, found in Egypt. The knitter of this sock started work at the toe and then worked up towards the leg. The heel was made last and then attached to loops formed while knitting the leg. This practice allowed the heel to be easily replaced when it wore out.
