Brazil was deservingly eliminated by Paraguay. Thiago Silva made a childish mistake and took it to the penalties. History repeats itself, again eliminated by Paraguay on penalties. I'm just glad this match wasn't against Argentina.

ADM had lot of the ball, with Messi releasing him time and again, but the final delivery was lacking. Still not in the best of form. Aguero had a disappointing night. Its surprising how this lot is hanging by the skin of the teeth. to be fair, his delivery from set pieces wasn't too bad. didnt realise Argentina play the formation that the Boss want's to play. that back three of Garay, Mascherano (apart from his time with the scum, i'd say i love this guy, immense!) and Otamendi seemed thoroughly in control. i can see why LvG wants Otamendi, he never put a foot wrong last night, and assisted in the build up play when needed. but Mascherano though.... (i know i blaspheme, but i cant help it ) I loathe that fucking monkey. I think he's a shit player and a shit person.

I'm still to be convinced about him as a CB. I think the posession Barca get in every game mean he's rarely tested but any time a side gets close to them in that he struggles. As a CDM however, he's top drawer (annoyingly). Really, really good at what he does. Which is cheat, break up play, foul and then recycle the ball. All the dirty, nasty shit you want from a DM. He's one of the very best at that.

He's a thug. sometimes class gets mistaken for thuggery when viewed through the right lens. perspective was always gonna dictate how this man is judged by our fans, so again im not surprised about how he is viewed. we have had a few in our time who were classed as thugs and nothing more. and there are a good number of people who wont be swayed about that either. i on the other hand note that some great sides need that sort of player, we need one right now IMHO. i think (Stewart) that he is well suited to being a CB in Spain, in England i dont think the conversion would have worked as well. but having said that he had managed to take that conversion to the national setup, and seems to be standing out there too. hence why i said he is top class at both, at least with Argentina he actually does have to defend from time to time.

I'd take a schneiderlin over that cunt everyday. Same job, just a different way of going about it.

Rojo scored a nice goal for Argentina! 14 mins, 1st half. I'm happy for him.

Argentina found their rhythm. 37 mins of the 2nd half, 6-1.
Edit: match is over now. Chile will face a mammoth task to get their first title, not only to beat this team but also to overcome history, Argentina has 4 CA titles in Chile and 6 finals. Paraguay, after all, fought with dignity until the end as they weren't seeking to dive and didn't get dirty on their tackles. Great match, 1 goal from Rojo and 2 from Di Maria.

Spot on, in fact it was Paraguay's refusal to lay down that made the match a thing of beauty. Paraguay played their hearts out, but Argentina was, for lack of a better word, magical. Great match to watch, wish I could have got it on the TV so I could have TiVo'd it, that one was worth watching again

01/07/2015 09:58, Report by Adam Marshall United pair Di Maria and Rojo help Argentina reach Copa America final Angel Di Maria scored twice and Marcos Rojo also found the net as Argentina thrashed Paraguay 6-1 to reach the Copa America final against Chile.
Defender Rojo opened the scoring after quarter of an hour when turning the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box with his left foot following a Lionel Messi free-kick. Although Javier Pastore doubled the lead, Lucas Barrios reduced the deficit with a smart finish. Di Maria took centre stage with a brace in the second half, firing home a Pastore pass soon after the restart and then pouncing on a rebound after Pastore's shot was parried by Justo Villar. A precise Di Maria cross enabled Sergio Aguero to head in number five and Gonzalo Higuain rounded things off by capitalising on some lapse defending. "I am happy with the goals," said Di Maria on TV Publica afterwards. "It was a great game, a little bit difficult after Paraguay scored, but we managed to control it in the second half." Argentina meet hosts Chile on Saturday, bidding to win the South American tournament for the first time since 1993. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Jun/di-maria-and-rojo-hit-goals-as-argentina-reach-copa-america-final.aspx

I am happier with the precise assist for Aguero, more than the goals he scored. We want such sort of precision in assists & creation of chances. Goals would come from Mata, Rooney/(any striker), Depay & Herrera. We need a confident ADM to create havoc.
