Sorry, but there is absolutely no excuse for a top level striker to not get that, at least, on target. It's very fast and he's sliding. Who has ever in the history of football practised a sliding shot. It doesn't happen. You can't even till if the ball has reached his foot from that angle. This man did.

The next frame is the ball shanking away, so it's a pretty good gamble that the ball has reached his foot at that stage.

This man did. I was going to say "I'd take Lineker at age XX over Rooney" and then looked it up to see he is now 54. Then I hesitated. Would I, really, prefer someone twice Rooney's age, who hasn't played pro football since 1994? I'm tempted.
