No matter what you think of this kid we all need to get behind him now - if we don't we are simply letting the enemy win. But if we all support him and show him what a great club he is at maybe, just maybe, he will do the impossible and go down in club legend right alongside Best, Charlton, Giggs and Scholes... as the man who dislodged Rooney from the starting XI Yep, none of us can use the fee paid against him this year or next year, the media and ABUs' will be doing that enough

Are you serious ? That's insane if true. Very true. Also add ons if he is top goal scorer for three seasons If we end up having to pay out on these I'll be happy with it.

Its a panic buy. You don't spend that money on a player people have barely heard of. The people in the know in French football thing he has real potential but they can't understand the transfer fee. Welbeck had pace and power but he couldn't finish and his movement wasn't great. Scouting the kid for over a year doesn't translate as being a 'panic buy'.
Said it the other night.
It's not exactly the kind of player you panic buy, 19 years old and unproven. Panic buys tend to be either established and proven players who fit a specific role, or if its younger players then they tend to have already emerged and proving their worth. We've clearly been looking at this lad a long time as reports suggest and one or two big clubs had started to move in his direction and we acted quickly to get this done. The fee is irrelevant at this time for the club and its's certainly irrelevant to me.

Is he not cup tied in the CL?? Or because Monaco are knocked out he can still play? Rule 18.07 states that if a player features in the first, second or third qualifying rounds of either the Champions League or Europa League, he can play for another club in either competition from the group stages onwards, provided his former employers do not reach the group stages themselves. If a player is involved in any of the aforementioned qualifying rounds for a side which then goes on to play in the group stages of either UEFA competition, he is not eligible to play for another club in Europe in that season.

This thread should be moved into the General forum now as Anthony is a United player and not just a transfer speculation?

The highly-regarded 19-year-old is to link up with his new colleagues at Old Trafford after representing France during the international break, but has already granted MUTV his first exclusive interview. Asked about being a young player at a club like United, Martial answered with confidence. "I don't feel the pressure. I know there is pressure but I'm ready for it.
"I'm very happy because it's a big club in England," he continued. "I'm very proud. I'm very happy because I worked hard for this and my family is very happy about it.
"I spoke with the coach, Louis van Gaal, and I know that I need to work very hard. It's not easy to speak about myself but I am a very fast player. I hope that everything will go well for me at this club."
Looking forward to the prospect of playing his first-ever match at Old Trafford, the new signing concluded: "I'm very happy because the supporters are great here. I will be ready when the time comes."
