He called us the biggest club in the world in the same interview. I was pleased by this We are. We may not act like it sometimes but we are. Glad that Anthony recognises this as well.

2/09/2015 15:55, Report by James Tuck, Aurelien Sagnier MARTIAL IN 'ANOTHER GALAXY' AT UNITED
Anthony Martial’s transfer to Manchester United has been a hot topic of discussion at France’s national-team gathering this week.
Martial was called up to the French senior squad for the first time last week but was granted leave to complete his move to United from Monaco on Tuesday. The 19-year-old striker is now back with his France colleagues in Clairefontaine after a whistle-stop trip to the Aon Training Complex. “I barely had the time to arrive and say 'hello', and it was almost time to go!” he admitted. “The club gave me a very warm welcome and I hope everything will go well. “I had a restless night, but I’m very happy to sign for Manchester United: it’s a massive club and I hope to be able to show all I can do. “There was a lot of hype but the most important thing will be to show everyone who I am on the pitch. In football, there’s no need to change: you just have to be yourself and keep your feet on the ground.” Martial could be poised to win his first full cap in one of France’s upcoming friendlies, against Portugal on Friday and Serbia on Monday. Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps said: “He is a player with a huge potential – he’s just been called up by France! Everything has moved very fast for him since he left Lyon. “Today’s transfer fees can be massive, but it’s less risky to invest in a young player than an older one. “He’s signing for a massive club. He will be on another planet, in another galaxy! It’s up to him to continue his development and gain some time on the pitch.” Another player called up by Deschamps is Morgan Schneiderlin, who said of his new United team-mate: “He is a talented and powerful striker, who’s compared to Thierry Henry… well, it’s you [the media] who make that comparison, but let’s not put too much pressure on him! “I think he has big potential and his playing style will be suited to England. At a club like United, a striker is expected to score a lot of goals but he has to put this aside, believe in his talent and play like he knows how to. “But knowing the United players, he’ll settle in very quickly and everything will be alright.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Sep/France-Didier-Deschamps-Morgan-Schneiderlin-react-to-Anthony-Martial-transfer-to-Manchester-United.aspx

Yup, so with bonuses he could cost about £60mill.
Still, at least some of the money trickles down -

Graham Hunter was on quite a few places talking about De Gea but he had an interesting segue on to Martial. He said he didn’t fit the criteria for what he thought Utd needed upfront, which was experience. But he said him saw he against Valencia and he was ‘fast, aggressive, direct and undeniably talented. Utd fans will very much enjoy watching him.’ Obviously the fee was a gamble etc but he said he was a real player.

Are we going to throw him (Martial) in against Liverpool, for his first game, his introduction to the league? I'd imagine Mad King Louis would save Martial for a cameo, maybe the final 15 minutes when we are already up 3-0. At least the match against Liverpool is at home. That will quite a first game!

Let's just hope he eventually costs us €80m ..cause that can only be a good thing from our end.
To be fair to the kid, if he can score 10 goals in all comps I'll consider it a very good return for a 19 yr old in his first season. LVG hardly gets it wrong when it comes to talent recruitment and nurturing. Animadversion for Martial will be there ,he knows that, but if he can be decisive and clinical when chances fall to him he can suddenly look like a bargain.
Easier said than done though.

This is a player that I want to do well more than almost any other, just to stick it to all the ABUs out there...

Manchester United Transfer News: Anthony Martial Clauses Reported, Fresh Rumours | Bleacher Report (via ble.ac/teamstream-) teamstre.am/1IOine2Crackin article about Martial fee. ABUS lose their mind about the price. But realistically if this ad wins the Ballon d'or in 4 years time he will be worth every penny!! Realistically this lad will play off the wing more for next two years and become a central striker as he gets older. It's unlikely he will hit 25 goals for the next two years. I do reckon he will get 25 caps quick enough though

Scouting the kid for over a year doesn't translate as being a 'panic buy'.
Said it the other night.
It's not exactly the kind of player you panic buy, 19 years old and unproven. Panic buys tend to be either established and proven players who fit a specific role, or if its younger players then they tend to have already emerged and proving their worth. We've clearly been looking at this lad a long time as reports suggest and one or two big clubs had started to move in his direction and we acted quickly to get this done. The fee is irrelevant at this time for the club and its's certainly irrelevant to me. Seriously we just spent £36m on a 19 year old most of us have only heard about this week. Scouting him for a year doesn't make it any less of a panic buy. The fee is always relevant, you don't piss money up the wall just because things aren't going very well. Heres hoping he turns out to be a fantastic player for the club but I doubt we have just outfoxed the rest of europe and bought the next Thierry Henry. The guys running the club at present are fucking amateurs, I really can't think of a better word to describe them.

Can't remember but I think Arsenal and Barca have been genuinely linked as well. We have stolen a march on all of them.
