still have idiots in charge that look to have ducked another transfer window. 3 players in 2 windows. 1 a 3rd choice keeper. 1 a 19 year prospect. 1 whos taking there time to bed in.
what a disgrace our board is. we need investment now if were going to make top 4. as we will drop points along the way.

There isnt many big clubs that make big signings in this window, most clubs don't want to lose players they can't replace, I never thought we would buy anybody but I was hoping we would sell a few. Only player will will get this window if we do will be a loan deal I think for somebody like malcolm or that type of player

You know me. Enjoying United winning again. Too bad I cannot be as enlightened as you. I mean, we still have Ed right? No room for any joy here. Lighten up. Who isn't enjoying them winning? Doesn't mean we've waved a magic wand and addressed various issues. CB RW Lingard, Young and Jones starting every game. Suspect defence Woowar probably loves fans like you ! Nothing to do with enlightenment. Just watching actual games without sugar coating everything like you obviously are! Lingard again? The man and the postcode, eh? Would you still listen to offers for Rashrord? I mean, he's here only because he's a cheaper option to the next transfer window hero.

Didn't I suggest if a really big bid came in I said I would consider it? I certainly didn't say "OMG he's shite let's sell him!" His form in the last month doesn't change his form prior to that comment. You can argue all you want why it was but it was based on what I was watching then! I also stand by my suggestion that Martial is the better player. Lingard is and always will be a decent squad player and unless we have injuries shouldn't be in the starting 11. It's something I have said numerous times if folk want to look. Anything else?

Not sure about the "really big bid" bit, but I can't be arsed searching. His form when he's allowed to make a mistake or miss the odd 1 on 1 without losing his place in the team does not change his form when he was kept out of the side by an 80 million pound signing who hadn't scored at OT for 9 months.
Martial is a top player, no arguments there. I wish he had Rashford's work rate, but nobody is perfect.
Lingard's return of 8 goals and 5 assists in 33 games last season warrants a place in the first 11. Easily better than last January's expensive addition to the wage bill

Lingard had his uses but let's not pretend he is good enough to start every week for us. Excellent squad player. Nothing more.

I know it's a popular notion that he's only good enough to make the numbers. I think he is underrated. Part of it is the fact we didn't shed a fortune to get him and the other is that his work rate seldom translates to flattering stats. A recent example (and only an example!) was last week against Spurs.
Lingard scored 13 in 48 games for us last season. Leroy Sane (14 in 49) and Bernardo Silva (9 in 53) cost a fortune and provided similar stats playing for a team that cruised the league. I have no doubt that we need competition at RW because players need to be kept on their toes, but I am very comfortable seeing Lingard starting any game.

Of course you can't but I was actually someone who has defended Lingard when he was getting undeserved criticism before his form improved. I still think he's better as an impact sub though than a starter.

'Making up the numbers' and being a valuable squad player who you would be comfortable starting any game are not the same thing. We shouldn't be complacent. Lingard as a starter every week needs an upgrade.

How big should that "really big bid" be for a player who "wouldn't start for City, Pool, Chelsea or Spurs" in your opinion?

Lingard as a starter every week needs an upgrade. Every player, bar a GK, needs a competition from a "squad player" of high enough caliber. It's simply (and in our case outright impossible) to apply that to keepers when the no. 2 has to feed on crumbs. Jesse Lingard provides very good stats and so much more. As upgrades theses days are quoted at 80 million starting I'd look to invest in the squad elsewhere. For the life of me, I can't understand how people are content with Dalot starting at RB regularly next season when he has done absolutely fuck all to warrant that but Lingard's contribution is being questioned. He actually scored 4 goals in December. Instead of Chucking him on the bench I'd go for someone like Damaray Gray and let them fight for that spot.

No clue how goalkeepers got into the discussion.

Perhaps it’s because his potential is blindingly obvious to anyone that’s watching Utd? That can only develop further barring injury? That he is regarded widely around Europe as an outstanding prospect? Nobody bar the oil doped sides have 2 players for every position, which is in effect what you’re suggesting. Barca don’t, Juve don’t, Real even don’t. Most teams have a core of around 8 or 9 starters who play nearly every game and a few positions that are rotated.

Also our goalkeeper needs no competition because there is no keeper out there on his level to challenge him.
As for Lingard I agree with the above. He's a good squad player but not a week in week out starter, hence the need for a right sided winger.
