Very good. A little too similar to a new hope but I think they wanted to bring everyone full circle and back to their youth to get it off the ground. Lots of things unanswered which could make this movie better or worse depending on how they do the next two movies.
Personally I'd like there to be a directors cut with a little more exposisiton in parts. Don't care if it's an extra 20 mins. I'd love it.

Left feeling a little underwhelmed to be honest. Can't put a finger on why though. 'Knew' Han was going to die way before it actually happened; could just tell somehow. Disappointed the big bad was Ben Solo. 'There was too much Vader in him'. Yeah, okay, except the end of Jedi saw Vader doing the right thing. He was good.

He did what Vader couldn't. I think he will go mental in the next ones. I was actually slighty underwhelmed about a few things until I read theories about them on the net and they seemed to fit and improve those aspects a bit.

Ford more or less demanded Solo be killed off, apparently he's wanted the character dead since RoTJ. Which is ironic as it's the first decent performance Ford has given in about 15 years.

Obviously not Anakin bad, but not sure if he has the chops.

Yep I knew that would happen even before I sat down because he's given multiple interviews in the past saying that.

Also thought we were asked to just accept an awful lot as 'this is the way things are now' without a lot of exposition. As aus says, if it gets addressed in the sequels then okay, but right now it's like three quarters of a film.

Needed to be more of a big reveal when seeing Han.

I'd give it 4/5. It was very good. I have a couple of issues though:
Predictability. I called Han dying before I walked into the cinema. Not saying it was a bad move, just predictable.
Originality. I burst out laughing in the cinema when I realised they were lifting more or less the whole second half from the original.
Kylo Ren. I really enjoyed the humanisation of the sith, with both dialogue and little things like camera movements. But he should not have lost to Rey. Ok she probably has like 2-3 years force training allowing her to hold her own, but to beat him? It just makes him a bit shit. He should have dominated her, she turns it around & surprises him then he gets the upper hand again before the crack splits them. If you really want let them draw. But to have him lose made him look far too weak in my opinion.

The last thing we needed was an hour of space politics bollocks.

Agree, almost has to devolve into a complete maniac in-order to become a bigger villain than Vadar. He also has to be nuts enough to develop weapons greater than a fucking planet that destroys whole planetary systems. Like the the actor though, he is a very believable nut job in Girls.
