Okay, I'm just going to say it. I want us to re-sign Ronaldo. I just watched the video of him scoring against us in the European Cup in that quarter final second leg; the sense of genuine pain it caused him to do it reminds me we could do with an arch winner who demands perfection and truly loves United in our team as much as on the sideline. Wasn't it 2nd round? IIRC Real got an easy draw after that cunt Cunyet muggd us. I also won a decent wad of cash on Ronaldo scoring. Did a signup offer on him 10/1 anytime then stuck a quid on us winning just to make sure I wasn't betting against us. Haven't bet on a United match since. Was it the last 16? Fixed.

Absolutely appalling decision, makes me sick to my stomach thinking about that red card.

I know it's the Metro but it's coming in from quite a few places now: Lazio have revealed that Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign their forward Felipe Anderson for £46.8million. Anderson was strongly linked with United in the January transfer window, with the Red Devils said to have made two bids for his services. The move eventually broke down, with Lazio refusing to sell, but now the Italian giants say they have sold the player to United. President Claudio Lotito revealed the news to journalists after attending a Serie B match at the weekend. ‘Felipe Anderson will move to Manchester United next season for €60million,’ said Lotito. He was also overheard boasting the director of Crotone FC that he ‘bought Anderson for just €8million but sold him for €60million’. As big of a fuckwit that Ed is, I don't think even he would agree to that.

Anderson is a good player. He is not worth £48m. If we get CL then we can do better IMO.

If we don't make CL then we should sack everyone from the board to the assistant manager. If we are in for him I'd imagine Anderson would like be 60 mill after ridiculous add ons. Or it could be bluster from a president

So, Lazio have released a statement about Felipe Anderson:
"In reference to statements attributed to president Claudio Lotito regarding the alleged sale of Felipe Anderson, Lazio can confirm they are devoid of any foundation."

Felipe Anderson to Manchester United reached peak transfer rumour mill on Monday when claims came from Italy that a deal had been agreed to see the Brazilian move for €60m during the summer transfer window. Making it's way to the British media, it was relayed as Lazio president Claudio Lotito telling Calciomercato, or telling reporters, that a deal had been agreed. Lotito was quoted as saying: "I got Felipe Anderson for €8m and have already resold him for €60m. Next year he will go to Manchester United." However, the claims Lotito had spoken to journalists were nonsense and translated badly. Calciomercato's Italian website said Lotito had been overheard by local journalists whilst the Lazio boss was speaking to the chairman and sporting director of Crotone. The claims that Lotito was speaking to journalists were just plain wrong, and at the very best this was a few words overheard from a private conversation, with Lotito said to be bragging. Lazio since denied the reports having any foundation and Felipe Anderson's sister, who also acts as his agent, also refuted the claims. Speaking to Lazio website Citta Celeste, Juliana Gomes explained: "Lazio have already denied the report, and I know nothing. Felipe is still concentrated on being here. He works hard and his head is at Lazio. We are honoured to be linked with United, but they have never called." Brazil's Globo Esporte contacted people connected to the footballer and they were also told the claims weren't true. Despite all the denials, local journalist Michele Spiezia, has insisted to Calciomercato that he overheard the claim: "They were in corridor of the stadium, in front of the locker room, and we clearly heard these words of his." There's every possibility that Lotito was misheard, or simply bragging about a possibility rather than a fact, with things later becoming somewhat twisted. It wouldn't be the first time Lazio had bragged, publicly or privately, about Manchester United offering big bucks for Anderson. Similar claims have been made during the past two transfer windows, with conflicting amounts pushed around. A fee of €60m for Felipe Anderson sounds vastly overpriced and if Manchester United wanted him so much they were prepared to pay such a price then they could have got him in January. sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/insistence-that-man-united-transfer-story-is-true-despite-denials

Is this Anderson chap actually any good? Suitable for English football? Weaknesses and strengths?
I really know fuck all about him other than the insanely high transfer fees being touted, the fact that he plays at Lazio and that he's an attacking midfielder. My concern with attacking Brazilian players is always the pace and physicality of English football; whether they can stay consistent each game with their ankles being destroyed by shitty, limited English defenders. Also having the xenophobic English press shitting on you every game after immediately assuming you'll be a one trick pony.
Plus he's coming from the Italian leagues, which is basically played at a walking pace because 75% of the players are at retirement age. Young though, 22, so loads of time to adapt.

Young though, 22, so loads of time to adapt. he's good but the prices being mentioned (and i'm talking the 30 mill, not the 48 mentioned yesterday) seem very high for a winger that blows hot and cold from the games I've seen him play. He's fast and direct but I don't know if he could make it here. Memphis had a lot more to him from what I could see and he's struggled. You never really know.
