I’ve been thinking about Rashford a lot the past few days and I’m not saying he’s not partially responsible for his slide recently but it is crazy the sheer amount of games and exposure we’ve put on him from a very young age. His first season he arrived on the scene late and played 11 prem games but then the following season he’s played 32 as a teenager. In fact since then he’s played over 30 prem games a season including last season where he played 37 games after what was a short pre season because of Covid. He’s 25 in October and he’s played 298 games in all competitions. You compare that to Foden who’s been eased into the fold by Pep and has been protected. Foden played a career high of 28 prem games last year in what was his 4th season has a player getting games. Even Kane hadn’t played anywhere near the same amount of games. Kane is 29 this year and has only played 146 games more than Rashford. We have put an incredible amount on Rashford. It's a fair point. If you look at number of games played by 24 then Rashford, Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo, Owen and Fowler all played similar kind of numbers, Fowler the lowest at roughly 270 or so, Ronaldo the most at about 320. Everyone is different and whilst Giggs and Ronaldo were able to keep going season after season after season, Rooney, Owen and Fowler all started a descent in their games roughly around the same age and number of games played; Owen and Fowler in particular with a lot of injuries and Rooney just started looking heavy and leaden footed. I said on here 4 or 5 years ago that I hoped we didn't over work Rashford and see his game drop off like Rooney did by his mid 20's. Hope I'm not being proven right.

As exciting as Rashford looks let's hope we put his long term future ahead of the club's short term needs. Owen and Fowler were both playing too much football too young and were finished before they hit 30. Same with Rooney who is lasting longer than they did but still looked washed up for the last couple of seasons. He's still a kid and should be continuing to develop at a normal rate, not shoved into our first team as a regular just yet. And if he's playing and scoring regular for United you can bet your backside he'll get an England call up too. Not trying to bring negativity into the thread, just saying I'd hate to see him burned out at 28 because the richest club in the world couldn't sign a top class striker to take pressure off the kid. In fact, there you go.

They need to be eased into it. As usual, it all comes down to management and their fucking shit transfer policy.

Also, whichever other cunt is doin it, this guy shouldn't. He's not focused on his job and has the hubris to complain that people are giving him shit. Ya think Marcus?

Lampard, Walliams, Baddiel, one of the little winnets from McFly. Why does Rashford putting a book out affect his ability to play football? The fact he’s been shite for ages has nowt to do with him writing something for kids.

Also, those guys you mentioned aren't really at a situation where they're entering that part of their lives where their career is determined by the choices they make now.

My remark about every fucker being a children’s author was a tongue in cheek observation on the celebrity children’s book market being saturated. Footballers don’t think about football 24/7. They’re all doing other things when they leave work, the same as you and I. To be honest, putting out a book for kid’s is probably a more productive use of his free time than sitting in the house playing Fortnite all day like the other players his age are.

I think he should be putting everything into the club and fans that pay his salary. I'm done with his extra curriculars tbh.

Imagine getting riled by someone putting out a book he probably didn't actually write himself.

Probably takes away even more time that he could use to serve the club.
