Young, big strong, athletic, only had 1 season at higher level before a big move for a big price, so pretty much the same as managala good season at Porto then big money move

Young, big strong, athletic, only had 1 season at higher level before a big move for a big price, so pretty much the same as managala good season at Porto then big money move Most CBs are big, strong and athletic, goes with the territory. Bailly has played at a higher level than Mangala, Spanish league being much stronger. And I saw Mangala quite a few times at Porto, he was riddled with mistakes. I've seen Bailly less but he's been better.

Not aimed at you but this flippant stereotyping must stop. Not for a sec am I saying that every youngster from a foreign league is going to take to PL like duck to water but each player deserves a change before a casual comparison/clubbing based on physique. Slight frame is another classic.

Eric Bailly: Man Utd set to sign Villarreal defender for about £30m
By Simon Stone BBC Sport 27 minutes ago| Football Eric Bailly made his debut for the Ivory Coast in 2015Villarreal central defender Eric Bailly is set to be Jose Mourinho's first signing as Manchester United manager.
Bailly is due to have a medical this week and terms are thought to have been agreed with the 22-year-old, who will cost the Red Devils about £30m. He has played 40 times in La Liga, the first five of which were for Espanyol. Bailly, whom Villarreal bought for £4.4m in January 2015, played in every game as Ivory Coast won the African Nations Cup last year. It had been thought Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be Mourinho's first signing since the Portuguese succeeded Louis van Gaal as United manager.
The Sweden striker, 34, is a free agent after leaving Paris St-Germain and hinted at the weekend he would make an announcement about his future on Tuesday. But he has refused to elaborate on his future, saying: "There is no confirmation. Keep wondering. I am enjoying the stories." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36474183

Can't pretend I know a great deal on him ... But after reading up quite a bit on him the genreal consensus is he could be something special has all the attributes to be star of the prem .... Fast strong athletic maybe a bit rash but that will be worked on Jose knows his defenders and if he thinks this lad is worth the money and will improve us then that's more than good enough for me can't wait to see him in action !

Just been checking some sites, been reported that both PSG and Barcelona were trying to steal him.
Bit of a coup for Ed.

Just been talking to my cousin who lives in Castellon, just down the road from the stadium.
He goes to all of Villareal's games, he says Bailly is 'a beast of a player'. Their fans are gutted he's going.

Their fans are gutted he's going. How did they feel about the quoted 30m price? Worth cashing in on Bailly, or should have held on to him?

wow we actually got it done. 30 mill is rather expensive but we needed a big, strong beast in the back to pair up with Mike 'the hairdresser' smalling. They will compliment each other well. Mou has an eye for these CB's also so i think he will be very good.
Still though, considering the whole Zlatan deal is dragging on forever, amazed this is done so quick
