Looks like Boris has gone full tin pot dictator on us. RIP British Democracy 2019. Why? Bear in mind Parliament closes for Party Conferences every year, for four weeks, from September to the beginning of October. This year it'll he five weeks. How "undemocratic". Also bear in mind this was the longest running Parliamentary session since 1651.
Also bear in mind new governments usually have a Queen's Speech to lay out their agenda for the coming Parliamentary session. What exactly in all of this is the death of democracy?? Unusual times call for unusual measures Bestie. I think for such a generation defining moment, there should be greater effort and care to ensure that all stops are pulled to meet a best outcome. a deferral of vacation/conference should not be out of the question under the circumstances. i'll make no grander comment on "the end of Democracy". Edit: this isn't me thinking they actually CAN come a best outcome. I would force them all to sit in parliament until Oct 31st just to show how incompetent they all are if i had my way. bunch of empty barrels.

Yes you're right its all above board. I guess that's why even Sir John Major is threatening legal action to try and stop it this going through.... Its a power play, a "smash and grab" on democracy to quote Corbyn from earlier. It's an attempt to stop our MP's from performing their duty and from having their voices heard for something that changes our entire destiny as a country. The Leave campaign told us in the run up to the referendum and General election that we would get a deal, that the idea we would just " fall of a cliff" was absurd. They eased fears and gained votes with these lies. A no deal Brexit was not what was promised to the British public and as a taxpayer I want my MP in the room voicing his opposition to this.

Quelle surprise, arch-Remainer who signed us up to Maastricht without a referendum doesn't like Brexit. Mild shock. When you're agreeing with Jeremy Corbyn you're on the wrong side of the argument.

A majority of MPs think the best outcome is no Brexit at all. So they can get fucked as far as I'm concerned.

I just wish it would all end now. Then we can get on with transferring power from Brussels to Washington and get on with our lives. No amount of arguing will make any difference now.

We have a Parliamentary voting system. The Conservative party for the most votes and seats in Parliament. So they got to form a government. Johnston is an elected Conservative MP. Know how If you want to get angry about democracy where is the outrage at MPs who have been elected on a manifesto promising to do one thing but are trying to enact the opposite. Or MPs who were elected on the manifesto of a party who have now switched party. Some of them twice. Without calling a by-election. Where has this fury been for a Speaker who has torn up our constitutional conventions to further a personal political agenda. The hypocrisy going around today has been laughable.

He’s never run in a General election and doesn’t really have a strong enough mandate to make this decision for us. Boris is also the same cunt who cried bloody murder for months when Gordon Brien took power ( as did most Tory’s) but now the shoes on the other foot i don’t hear the same argument....

The last three national ballots have been won by pro-Brexit parties. He did complain when Brown took power in the same way but it's bloody politics. Of course Boris complained when the opposition did it. But the rules didn't change. And the argument that finally just getting Brexit done is more important than another general election on the same issue is a strong one.

I don't quote them. One thing about Farage though. He gets a hell of a lot of stick for a single issue candidate who has turned the entire political discourse of a nation into a debate on his single issue.

Farage definitely played a big role in making Brexit happen, but I also totally agree with Cummings that sidelining him was crucial to the referendum victory.
