JD Vance did Rogan yesterday.
About Halfway through it and seems like a very down to earth guy. I really don't know much about him and never even heard of him when he was nominated as Trumps VP elect.

Didn't know much about him before this campaign, but Vance has come out of this looking like the most normal of all four of these characters. Hasn't raised his voice or gotten majorly flustered in any of the big interviews he's done - even when inevitably these turned combative. Having looked more at his background, seems to have worked a hard path to get where he is and, at a glance, I'd guess he's the highest IQ out of all four of the people running for office. Probably says a lot about Trump and Harris

Remember to get your votes in here, boys and girls!
2 more days.
Currently, per RoM:
70% think Harris wins the popular vote. 70% think Trump wins the Electoral College. 33.3% think Harris wins the E/C. 33.3% think Trump wins the PV.
Need more data here, 10 is a horrific sample size, but the PV/EC split looks almost certain.

Seems like the most normal down to earth guy out of all of them, open to other pov's even though he will still hug the right's ideas he was asking Rogan about how to get better care with psychedelics treatment for veterans and doesn't think people should be arrested for personal use weed which def doesn't fall in line with the right. Wasn't a fan of him constantly bringing up Kamala/Biden though. I just wanted to hear talk about himself and what he wants to accomplish if he gets in office. Surprisingly Trump didn't bring up them up as much as he did. I really hoped Kamala and Rogan would have come to an agreement for her to sit down at his studio so they could do the same. Think it could have done wonders for her if campaign.

Vance is a nut. Kamala is a bit odd but the best politicians usually are, you have to be a bit odd to want to take on that responsibility. Walz seems like a normal, slightly kooky dad, not my first pick but he'll be fine if they win. Trump has done more damage to Western civilisation than any other individual in the past fifty years, including enemies like Putin and Xi.

Would love to see/hear why you think Vance is a nut, Rustin?
Other than the interviews I've seen and the fact he wrote a book I don't know much else.
What I had read about him, before watching him in the debate with Waltz, didn't really align.
Suppose it's totally acceptable to be fine with Waltz as VP, but the debate made him look totally out his depth.

That does seem to be pretty far out, and unless there is some data to suggest Ivy league schools in some way favour DEI candidates as minorties then probably off the mark.
It looks like his flaws relate to his ideologically conservative values and opinions, as opposed to his intelligence or competency.
If Vance and Waltz were running for POTUS, I honestly think it would be a landslide.
I'm so curious to see the results this week, it really looks so tight and could go either way.

It's such a trip reading posts from the first page of this thread, looking back at 2016.

Like you said she’s a milquetoast politician, who behaves and acts like most politicians do. Somewhere along the way half of America decided they prefer their neighborhood carnival barker to run their country because they somehow felt a certain kinship with aforementioned carnival barkers. The phrase lowest common denominator comes to mind. Add in a toxic mix of virulent liars like Alex Jones, Joe Rogan, Fox News and other right wing nutjobs et voila. But for me it’s the fact that she’s a woman. That’s what is most important because imo America will never vote in a woman president. Even if the alternative is…… Donald Trump 😂

I didn't base my opinion on Vance on the Rogan pod, Red - he's done a bunch of interviews, so has made himself more accessible even in very hostile settings.
The constant "othering" of everyone who holds anything other than pro-Harris sentiment as some sort of band of idiots / racists / Trump stans is so tired. It has also resulted in Dems losing elections.
Love being part of the "Usual Suspects", though, and happy to present alternative views.
I've long since stopped feeling insecure about the opinions I share on a Manchester United football forum, especially as it relates to foreign politics of a country where I'm not even a voter.
Daily reminder: It is in fact possible to think Trump is a total idiot, whilst not automatically thinking Harris is the best candidate either - RFK, Tulsi Gabbard (potential future POTUS in my view), Nicole Shanahan, Vivek, Elon, these people (almost all of which were lifelong Democrats) all have their own followers who will have their own motivations to vote for Trump because he has committed to forwarding their various interests.
With Harris & Waltz, you seem to be getting an entourage of celebrities, Mark Cuban and Liz Cheney.
I was a huge fan of Obama, great orator and statesman - neither of the current candidates really compare, but the current Democratic party is similarly unrecognizable.
