I hope not, all opinions are valuable in reaching answers or trying to reach them
Right now things are fairly simple, with this last election cycle, both parties shoved choices down America's throat that were unacceptable to so many people that they
avoided voting. IMO it became a contest between the lunatic fringes on both sides and the right seems to have had more lunatics.
Problems we face as voters is that, a long time gone, this country elected thieving pisswits of the worst sort, the kind of asshats that make scouisers almost palatable.
Once in office, those people protected their jobs, their thievery under our laws (mostly attaching pork barrel riders to bills that they ran through, with a public that was
too self absorbed (or stupid) to get involved.
So, the things like getting rid of electoral colleges, gerrymandering, corporations buying politicians, term limits, the things which would go a long way towards getting
a handle on this shitball rolling downhill, growing in size and becoming unmanageable, would take a constitutional change, which is a huge undertaking. Requiring
approval of vast majority of congress, which would then send the proposal to the Governors of each state, which would then put it to the legislators, and then,
it would only happen after 3/4 of the states ratified it. If interested, there is a good article in the archives
HERE.
This situation happened a long time ago, BUT that is not to say that the voters in this country have wised up. Hell, the people in America, are apathetic, an worse,
our system of education does not teach kids about our government, or about US history, except Black History, which frankly pisses me off, black history IS US
history, the bad and the good. Right now you could probably ask a group of High School kids questions about this country and the answers would be ludicrous.
Sometimes I think the only possible answer is to make sure my kids are educated, and that we keep the working farm my sister and Brother-in-law have
established thriving, which sits on high ground and might be a place to go if it starts to burn down. Need some people with brains that can build it back up.
Got Docs, librarians, farmers, and intelligent family, and some old bastards that have seen the elephant and come back home.
I'm glad I live where I do, people are not much for protesting in small mid-western towns, and they are good people. As has been shown already, protests
now turn into looting an riots (lots of asshats out there) and I am afraid that if the response is "drastic" that cities in this country will burn. I well remember
the past when that happened.
I am not a survivalist, I served my country in Uniform, for 14 years, bled on foreign soil, and I am involved in what happens in my world.
Right now, this, from one of the original rebels, is truer now than it was when this country was new:
I am not sure what is going to happen, Trump scares me, but the idjits who voted him into office scare me one hell of a lot more.
The man cannot keep the promises he made, our system of Government won't let him. He can do "Executive Orders" and tear down programs
that other people are going to rebel against losing, but that is about it.
2 lunatic fringes, if they go off on each other, it could get ugly. Until then, I reckon it is about keeping on keeping on.
