You did. So get off your high horse. People are allowed to criticise or what about without it immediately being branded as bigotry. Bigotry is a real thing to be taken seriously. I personally would not have drawn the comparison between yesterday's nonsense and BLM. It achieves nothing in the discussion. Doesn't mean nobody else is allowed to and it doesn't mean they're aren't comparisons that could be drawn. The only way we change the discourse is to engage with it. Not simply dismiss everything you don't like as bigotry. What are you on about? I said he was a bigot, so if I consider him a bigot it means I consider the things coming out of his mouth as bigoted isn't it? So while you wouldn't consider it as bigoted, I do, because I consider him to be a bigot. I think its very clear. Or are you on one of your grammar crusades again? I'm out.

I'm referring to the members of this forum not politicians or news media. You can trawl through that conversation and find plenty of arguments on both sides of BLM. I think bringing BLM into this conversation is unwarranted. Whatever you think of BLM, they didn't attempt to override a democratic vote like these protesters yesterday, they voted at the ballot and the result of that is the first ever black man elected to the senate in Georgias history. They sound like the anti brexit mob. maybe trump and his supporters should have said “they didn’t know what they where voting for” or “all democrats are thick” Not the time or place bud.

It is not whataboutery. It was a direct reply to someone else's point in a separate discussion. Yes, I didn't say you were whatabouting. I said the other guy was. Which I agree I did not make clear. Not a single bloke here brought up BLM before that guy. So the whatabout was directed at him in fairness.

That place is fucked, that's for sure, there will be riots and deaths for a long time to come from both sides.

Who said his post is bigoted? Maybe I was unclear, I'll rephrase. He is a bigot. The dude has nothing to say about BLM apart from bashing it for property destruction - even the insurance companies who have had to pay out for the damages probably haven't said as much as this dude on the matter . Best part is he said something the other day about "people in the west needing to get a grip on woke culture". Even now, rather than comment on the appalling attack on democracy, he brings up BLM. I'm not as subtle as Stew or Smeagol, if I see bs I'm going to call it as I see it. Isn't it great when people conjure up bullshit strawman arguments to cling on to their shit biases Ok few things in there Not supporting the BLM movement doesnt make me a bigot , I believe that movement is misguided and mainstream media and politicians are pandering to those thugs instead of condemning their violence. Its not even going to help black people in the long term. Insurance companies know they will roasted alive in the current woke culture , so they are happy to stay silent and let the shitstorm pass rather than say anything. About the wokeness in general , There was a news article few days before , one guy got a clip of a girl using the N word , he waited with it for years until she joined college and then made it public , the shitstorm caused her to lose her seat in college. NY times called it some sort of reckoning and justice served. If thats what these wokes are doing to teenage girls imagine what they will do to others Just look at what happend to Cavani , almost everyone knew it was not a racial offence , and he still got punished. US is introducing laws governing speech (gender neutral language lol !) , again its almost a leaf out of 1984 If you want to see wokeness just look at the Black panther movies critical reviews in rotten tomatoes , i mean a bang average run of the mill marvel film is hailed as some sort of greatest art work in cinematic history along the lines of Godfather or Apocalypse now I have to say, I have a great deal more respect now for Kamilo. His post last night compared to you embarrassing yourself consistently in this thread is a real eye-opener.

Fair enough. Completely agree introducing the BLM comparison to yesterday's events is needless. Unfortunately it was only ever going to be inflammatory as well. I never said capitol hill riots were fine , nor did i justify it. For the record - ITS WRONG , they cant just take laws into their hands when political decisions/results dont go their way. What i said was the general reactions against those 2 acts of riots on this forum. People are quick to jump and criticise one thing , not so much the other. Again its not a justification of capitol hill events.

However, and this is ironic- because this board is based in the West, the place you regularly excoriate for its liberal leanings and ‘wokeness’, you can spout such nonsensical drivel and the worst you can expect is to be called out on it. Think about that the next time you belittle it.

I just said pointed out some facts and things i didnt agree with , unlike some members here i didnt go about abusing people who disagreed with me. I criticized the west/RoM for this obsession with newfound wokeness (emergent in last 10 years maybe) not for being liberal in a classical sense. You know most people from other parts of the world would jump at the first chance if they get a job in US or europe. I have my cousin and his family living in london , friends who have worked in US for considerable time , none of them felt west is a inherently racist place to be which is what the BLM is essentially suggesting , which is why I cant support that. If anybody want to discuss without being sarcastic or shouting abuses or a calling names iam ready , otherwise i am out of this

This speaks volumes about you. Your shoe-horning of BLM into the discussion for no reason, your regular criticism of The West’s alleged left leaning, I think we all get the picture of what you are. Being out of this is almost certainly your best course because you are marking your card well and truly with each new post.

If anybody want to discuss without being sarcastic or shouting abuses or a calling names iam ready , otherwise i am out of this Why thank you for gerrymandering the conversation based on the experiences of 5 people you know . If they say it isn't inherently racist then of course they know it all. And of course its the same thing for Indian folks and African American/British folks. Apparently your friends who have gone there after studying/living in India for decades know just as much about institutional racism as a black man who has grown up being made to feel like a second class citizen in his own country. One size fits all apparently. Also, thanks for criticizing the West's wokeness. As I mentioned in the other thread, we would all love to live in conditions where a comedian can't make a joke at a pub without the government locking him up. As Moyesy would say - that's what the West aspires to. That's definitely preferable to wokeness amirite?

I cant help but notice a certain persons post about the actions of the rioters completely ignores the actions of the authorities in both scenarios.
From certain politicians referring to one group (back in the summer) as rioters and the other group (yesterday) as protesters; to the heavy handed, premeditated show of force (again, in the summer) vs the kid gloves, 'can you please go home now, let me walk you out of the building and take a selfie' and turning up when its getting dark and the curfew is in place approach (yesterday) from the security forces.
From these eyes, those were the glaring examples of the institutionalized racism that the group back in the summer were speaking about, and that those in power are slowly coming to realise is the reality in the country.

Did the yank police run out of tanks, plastic bullets and tear gas? Funny how that works.
