Surely I can't be the only person here who likes a bit of darts?
One of the main things I associate with this time of year is the PDC World Champs. The tournament starts properly today, I know they've been playing for the best part of a week now but some of the matches in the first round are just dog shit mismatches. The 2nd round is where you start to see some excellent matches.
Lineup for this round is:
Second Round
Friday December 23
Afternoon Session (1pm)
Ian White (14) v Jonny Clayton
Michael Smith (11) v Mervyn King (22)
Benito van de Pas (15) v Terry Jenkins
Evening Session (7pm)
Darren Webster v Simon Whitlock
Gary Anderson (2) v Andrew Gilding
Adrian Lewis (5) v Joe Cullen (28)
Tuesday December 27
Afternoon Session (1pm)
Mensur Suljovic (8) v Mark Webster (25)
Robert Thornton (9) v Daryl Gurney (24)
Dave Chisnall (7) v Chris Dobey
Evening Session (8pm)
Raymond van Barneveld (12) v Alan Norris (21)
Phil Taylor (4) v Kevin Painter
Michael van Gerwen (1) v Cristo Reyes (32)
Wednesday December 28
Afternoon Session (1pm)
Kim Huybrechts (13) v Max Hopp
James Wade (6) v Steve Beaton (27)
Jelle Klaasen (10) v Brendan Dolan (23)
Evening Session (7pm)
Peter Wright (3) v Jamie Lewis (30)
Should be some decent games there. Barney v Norris, Thornton v Gurney and Lewis v Cullen stand out for me.
On the tournament as a whole it's hard to look past MVG for the win. The guy is absolutely sensational. Hasn't lost in a tv tournament all year since losing in the Worlds back in January. That's 8 major titles on the bounce. If I had to put someone else against him I'm plumping for Peter Wright to go close this year. His game has been excellent the last few months.

i`m also not that good, although i used to beat everyone in my old work place. i`m searching now for a second hand dart board to have in my place as they are quite expensive if you buy them new.
working as a bike messenger was pretty stressful at times and each time i came back to the office to wait for a job and i had a couple of spare minutes, i immediately started playing darts there. within minutes my whole body and mind just relaxed. lovely sport that is and i`m glad its starting to become popular in the rest of europe (outside of the uk).
i usually dont like these "tent party people", getting drunk and singing out loud. never been to a big dart event but it looks like a lot of fun there. although everyone is drunk and singing all the time, people seem to support all the players and its just one big peaceful party with people from all over the world.
edit: oh by the way, thanks a lot for the thread mate. when the world championship started i was also thinking about starting this thread but didnt want to search back on the forum if there is already one.

Love watching the darts, bit surprised there hasn't been a thread 2bh in the past.
Been up to a few of the premier league games in the past in Cardiff which was a great crack. All fancy dress as well which is a must with the premier league. Student night as well, cheap beer. Happy days.
Not had much chance so far to watch any of the world championships yetbut only the first round so far so will get into it a bit more now.

As long as MvG doesn't win it I'll be happy though. Few up there that could snatch it though.

Smith v King is turning out to be an absolute cracker. Smith 3-1 up and looked home and dry, King's fought back to send us into a decider.

Love the darts. Go every October to the Grand Prix in Citywest, Dublin.
As for the World Championships here, there isn't a hope in hell of anybody other than MVG or Anderson winning it. The only possible live outsider is Aide Lewis. You can forget about Peter Wright.

The only possible live outsider is Aide Lewis. You can forget about Peter Wright. My £2.50 e/w hopes you're wrong. Wright's a rock solid player, scores well and finishes well. In this sets format I think MVG is more vulnerable which has been proven due to him not winning this the last 2 years. Although I do agree MVG will be hard to beat the Worlds has proven a lot tougher to win for him than other events. I fucking hate Phil Taylor (great player but an arrogant whopper) but I looked at some stats the other day and I think people forget just how great this guy was in his prime. He's still won the world champs with averages that other players, including MVG can only dream of. 107 in 2001, 106 in 2006, 110 in 2009, 104 in 2010 and 103 in 2013. MVG's been in 2 finals and only averaged just over 100 in both of them, not too shabby but not to the standard of Taylor. I think MVG looks a lot better because of how quick he is but Taylor's all round game was every bit as good as his and he rarely had the lapses in concentration that MVG sometimes has. His finishing was also better. I'm no Taylor fan boy, as I said I really don't like the guy and love to watch MVG but just thought it was worth noting because I hear alot of people say MVG is way better than Taylor ever was. Its incredible how quickly people have forgot how much he dominated and demoralised opponents the same as MVG is doing now.

Barney was incredible Vs Norris. Best performance of the tournament so far. Taylor was very average, Painter should've been much closer to him.
