I'm blown away by Luke Littler. 16 and just playing ridiculous darts, he's an absolute freak. I read an article quoting him saying "I don't fear anyone, I can go all the way." This lad plays with such confidence. van Barneveld said he couldn't wait to face Littler, during the game you could see van Barneveld smirking in amazement at Littler's darts.

He was averaging 108 in the semi. Gonna be hard to match that.

Incredible few months for Humphries, he's been by far the best player in the world in that time and deserves this.
So many narrow squeaks early doors, but it's all about how you finish a tournament not how you start it; Bunting was hitting 110 averages in the opening rounds then shit himself when he played an actual good player, Humphries has "pulled an Italy", start slow and just get better and better as it's gone on.
The standard now is just so much better than in earlier years. Taylor and Barnie are the only 2 from 20-30 years ago that would be top 20 players today, and whilst I still think Taylor is the GOAT, honestly if he was in his 20's now, he's be lucky to get 7 or 8 world titles, never mind 16. MVG is astonishing and he's still stuck on just 3.

Like snooker the sport has gone more professional with players actually earring their living from the sport so they can dedicate all their time to improving. I remember Taylor working in a factory when Bristow discovered and sponsored him and even the not too long ago(about 20 years)sky did a piece Colin Lloyd who was working on a building site while competing for the title.
