Rojo isn't back until around September/October time and I would put Matic at the base, Pogba on the left of the 3 (his best position) and Herrera on the right. But that's a strong side

I'd have Bailly and Lindelof in defence.

I'd have Bailly and Lindelof in defence. Bailly is banned cos of his red vs. Vigo. Misses the first CL group game too.

I'd have Bailly and Lindelof in defence. Rustin beat me to it. I wouldn't dream or dropping Bailly for Smalling otherwise đ

On the LCB position I will take a roll of the dice with Jones before Smalling. Both have had ups and downs, but Jones is looking more confident on the left for me....let's see us attack and punish the fragile minds of RM.
---------Spanish Dave---------- Tony-Lindelof-Jones-Darmian -------------Matic--------------- --------Herrera-Pogba------- -Rash------Lukaku----Martial-

i think we have to go out to win this and set up for the season. i mean, dont go out and sit back and try to defend like Jose is a master at. it would be great to win of course but we have to see where we are this season and dont be afraid to go toe to toe. without ronaldo i do think we have a good chance now. theres no reason why our midfield cant compete with theres.
............DDG
Tony Lindelof Smalling Darmian
...........Matic .......Herrera Pogba
Miki .....Lukaku..... Lingard
Rashford and Martial to both come on.

maybe we can avoid playing smalling somehow... PHIL JONES is set to play for Manchester United in their UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid in Macedonia on Tuesday. United have served notice of their intention to appeal his two-match ban for using abusive language to a doping control officer at the Europa League final in May. They have until Monday evening to submit the actual appeal and have put in a request for âprovisional measuresâ to be triggered - which effectively means Jones can play until his appeal is heard. UEFA will make a decision on that request on Monday but it appears a formality. A UEFA spokesman said: âWith regards to the two-match suspension issued to Phil Jones, Manchester United have asked for provisional measures in accordance with Article 49 of the UEFA disciplinary regulations. âThe UEFA Appeals Body will take a decision in regards to this matter on August 7.â www.google.ch/amp/s/www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/635088/Manchester-United-Real-Madrid-Phil-Jones-Jose-Mourinho-Premier-League-UEFA-Super-Cup-Ban/amp

Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United are the underdogs ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid - but finally hopes to lift the one trophy that has eluded him. The Portuguese has only ever contested one Super Cup tie, when Chelsea played Bayern Munich in 2013, and left Porto and Inter Milan after their respective Champions League triumphs. Mourinho will get another crack at the trophy when United take on Real Madrid in the Philip II Arena in Skopje on Tuesday as he looks to add to the three honours he has already won at Old Trafford. And, following the club's Europa League triumph just three months' ago, Mourinho hopes to follow in Sir Alex Ferguson's footsteps by leading United to Super Cup glory. "Our players don't have a wealth of experience of big European matches. This is a new Manchester United, a new generation of players; last season was the Europa League, which was also so important for us in terms of gaining experience, but now we're returning to the Champions League and to the UEFA Super Cup against the best team in Europe, so it's a great opportunity," he told UEFA.com. "Every time I've contested the UEFA Super Cup, it was as the Europa League winners. When I won the Champions League with Porto, I left Porto. When I won the Champions League with Inter, I left Inter. "So I've never contested the UEFA Super Cup as the strongest team. It's the same story this time: I'm taking Manchester United to play against Real Madrid, the Champions League winners. Hopefully this time we can do it." Mourinho spent three seasons at the Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013, winning three trophies in the process. But, having experience of playing against Porto and Chelsea, Mourinho thinks it will be just another game. "I don't look at them as a former team. It's something I've been through many times," he added. "I left Porto and two months later I was facing them in the Champions League. I left Chelsea and a few months later I was facing them with Manchester United. I never look at it in terms of taking on my former club, not at all. "So I just look at Real Madrid as what they are: a big club, the European champions, and it's a great motivation for us to play against them." www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-fixtures-real-madrid-13436935

Hey lads, Haven't been active for a while due to shit loads of IRL reasons so I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right thread. If I'm not, feel free to move the post or point me in the right direction. I'm from Macedonia myself and this will be the first United game I'll watch. If anyone from this board is coming, feel free to let me know if I can be of any help. I'm not from Skopje so I can't help with accommodation, but maybe I can help out for some logistics stuff. I booked a hotel room myself the moment we won the Europa League for whooping 300 euros a night thinking that I'll be in the same hotel as with the United staff but at the end it turned out that bloody Real Madrid will be there Turns our that is not expensive since the prices skyrocketed shortly after. Anyway, hoping for a great night and a big bloody win so I can gloat over the Madrid mob during breakfast the next day
