From BBC Gossip this morning...... Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, 26, has asked Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos to sort his move to the Bernabeu. (Diario Gol - in Spanish) I like the fact that DDG has stayed pretty quiet about all the Real Madrid noise. Even pre and post fax machine drama. I do wonder if this is his last season though, his silence now seems to speaking volumes, he's never come out and rubbished the rumours has he (other than the fact that he's still here). So, assuming he is set to move in the next summer transfer window, who would you have as keeper? Would be nice to have Jasper Schmicheal I reckon. Great keeper, great name and seems like a good fit........always plays well at Old Trafford. I believe it's merely not De Gea's style or personality to come out and speak on rumours. I'd get pretty tired of it too when it's the same damn rumour day in day out for about 5 years, and he must feel like even if he came out and said "I have the United crest tattooed above my pubes", that wouldn't stop the rumour mill anyway. He hasn't been radio silent on social media. His various posts don't suggest any hint of him being unhappy or agitating for the move, rather I'd take them at face value, that he likes the club, the squad, and likes playing here. I know the club monitors all the accounts anyway, but nonetheless they don't create the posts for him. His popularity couldn't be better, his salary is one of the highest for a keeper, he is widely acclaimed across the world as one of the best keepers in the world (except by that asshat Shilton). To answer your question though, yes I'd snap up Kasper Schmeichel in a heartbeat. People sleep on him now because Leicester (unbelievably) fell back to earth last year. But I'd have him over every other keeper in the league, including over Lloris and Courtois.

I honestly don't see him leaving now.

I dunno what to think about the Andreas Pereira loan. Valencia is definitely a big step up from Granada and if he shines there, then he'll shine anywhere (including for us). I really thought we could use him, as he is pretty good depth for either flank and at #10.
He only signed a 1 year extension (with a club option of a further year), so that just puts it in bold signage that this is the make-or-break loan for him.
Given that timeframe, I wonder if he's being groomed as Mata's successor (Mata turns 30 in April). I only just thought of it now but is it a coincidence that this loan is to Mata's old club?? (tin foil hat ON!)

I'm unsure of how Ramos is supposed to sort his move. Is he going to donate a working fax machine or something?

Hard no to Kasper Schmeichel. There's only about 3 or 4 goalies in world football who look like they could come close to replacing DDG. Of those, Oblak is possibly the most attainable.

He's better than Harr. Not elite level but definitely good.

Gigi II is the only name we should even be contemplating to replace De Gea, should the need arise. Which it won't, because winning titles and hopefully showing genuine progress in the European Cup makes players want to stay at the biggest clubs.

(tin foil hat ON!) My guess is that this being a world cup year has played a significant part in his decision - if he does well for Valencia he will have a great chance of being called up this summer (although I can't really recall if it's for Belgium or Brazil). Personally, I think that he should have stayed because he probably would've played at least 30 games throughout the season. The kid is immensely talented and we would be very foolish to not give him what he needs in order to stay here and become a top player for us. That being said, I do understand his decision and hope that he becomes an important player for us next season (especially since buying a player with an equal amount of talent and experience would cost us in today's market something close to 50-60 million euros).

Whilst I think DDG wants to stay (so the point I'm about to make is moot), we'll be hard pressed to beat Real's progress of 3 wins in 4 years in the European Cup! Plus the lure of home can trump these things anyway. I don't think it matters though, because I think DDG is happy to stay through the 2018/19 season at least, and that'll hopefully extend as time goes on.

Except Ramos can't sort the move out - it's between the clubs to reach an agreement. Obviously no other news going on currently

Bale can fuck off and ride the Madrid bench. 4 years in Spain and he apparently still hasn't learned the language. How is that possible? Even a chimp (a real chimp) can pick up basic sign language for food, water etc. He'll be 29 next year and will fade fast imo. MLS or China will likely be his next destination after Madrid. Valencia still hasn't learned English so it's possible. I believe he has now - I'm sure I've read something very recently which says he's now (finally!) communicating in English!
