Think you're exaggerating a bit. There’s no thinking about it ffs Shame that people are entitled to an opinion eh. My bad for that.

Lang cried in the post-match interview and said it was the highlight of his career - contrast that with the bunch of wasters strolling around the pitch playing for a draw in the 2nd half. Fuck it. Well-played, Basel.

Poor performance .
However.
12 points (+3 from second ) , +6 goal difference , playing cska at home/ fortress.
Yeah we're qualifying first.

Choked up with the cold, lying in bed last night and I thought I might as well check the score on my mobile, saw the result and said fuck it and went back to sleep, or tried to, coughing too much.
At least we live and fight on at OT in the last match, onwards and upwards.

For some reason I thought it went on results against instead of goal difference, but aye we're finishing top. Still doesn't excuse some of that shit last night though. Suppose the important bit is we're through, should be able to give a few players a run out against Moscow.

I really do not know. Thats why I put the part in there about letting someone else Manage/Coach. The guy is the best recruiter in the world. Full stop. But so very boring and predictable when it comes to tactics. And it seems those tactics are not good enough anymore. The game passes every good manager by eventually. It looks like Mourinho has been found out. You do realise that he's been winning trophies in the exact same way for about 15 years now, right? A manager that is winning trophies has been all of a sudden found out. That's a new one... Of course it’s happened. In 2004 Wenger’s Arsenal completed one of the biggest achievements in PL history and yet by 2008 everyone knew he was past it. LVG was winning things - not as consistently as Jose, but he was winning things - before he came here and yet for the most part his football was a mess. I don’t think Jose is over the hill at all, but it has happened to others.

Haven’t we lost to Basel away before under fergie? Nope, never happened. We won every game, at a canter, seventy-nil. Even that 5-5 game. Ah Marco "Van Basten" Streller . Good times.

There are 2 managers in world football that can say that. The other one is currently behind Spurs in their group. Are people saying he is past it? Doubt it. Feels like it's Van Gaal's last season all over again. People almost want for us to lose, in order to get rid of Jose, only we're actually winning and playing 10 times better. It's a bit mind boggling tbh.

The last thing van Gaal won before joining united was the Bundesliga (if you could even call that league competitive at the time) in 2010. So before he joined united he won nothing. Before joining united , Jose had won the bloody league one season ago. Let's not even talk about Wenger here please. The only reason he won anything was because he stumbled across some of the best players in league history , by pure luck I'd say, especially considering his transfer business since that.

Tbf Wenger was good once but anyone comparing him being past his best with Jose needs to chill. Again I go back to City. If they weren't sweeping everyone aside then looking at results we're not doing too badly. 12 points in the group stages and still not qualified. How does that happen? The problem is there are a large percentage of fans who never wanted Jose in the first place so every time we stutter the toys get chucked out. This summer we need some decent fecking full backs though. City can get away with Delph because they are so strong everywhere else. Oh and someone who can cross a ball please. Knowing our luck though we have a CEO stupid enough to get mugged off for a washed up injury prone Madrid player because of our 'commercial'interests.

Though, to use your language, we aren’t doing ‘too badly’ at all imo. We’re still in the title race. If we’re 10+ points behind City come Christmas, then we can re-evaluate.

I’m not comparing Jose to them and want to stress my last line that I don’t think he is over the hill (though I do think he has something to prove, and think he probably believes that more than anyone). I was just objecting to the idea that it had never happened to any successful manager, which is what I thought you were saying.

Chelsea won the title last season and they are behind us. City addressed their weaknesses in the summer. We finally got rid of a striker who had been stinking the place out since Moyes arrived. Our problem is we still have too many duffers who need moving on who are on nice contracts. Imo in Jan/Summer we need 1/2 full backs A no 10 or similar A winger If I am being kind I would ship out Shaw Darmian Carrick If I am being ruthless (as well as the above) Fellani Valencia Young Mata Herrera Lingard Jones * because he's injury prone. Blind Miki Somewhere in between this for me.

Haven’t we lost to Basel away before under fergie? Was wondering when this chestnut would come up. Been happening a lot this season, hasn't it - this 'hoodoo' at places. Anfield, Stamford Bridge, away to fucking Basel ... I have come to despise this line in sport. Not winning somewhere in the past is not an excuse for not winning there now. Poor performance . However. 12 points (+3 from second ) , +6 goal difference , playing cska at home/ fortress. Yeah we're qualifying first. That isn't really the point though. As Rio, Lampard and Gerrard all said after the game it's just about okay for results like this to happen now. Further into the competition though the sort of performances we have been putting in recently will have us found out. In Europe and the league. We're already miles behind city domestically. They have better players and play wildly better football. It disgusts me.
