Thought the ref was quite naive at times (was he a newbie coming up through the ranks?) There was considerable off the ball activity that he didn’t even confer with his assistants about. Then there was a trip on a Town player that should have been punished (not sure who the culprit was) and he saw it, he was clearly watching. Let shit like that go and you’re in strife. The goon with the bleached curls should have been booked before he was, probably would of then seen red later as he threw himself around.
While I’m at it, why do the commentators still insist on calling play acting “diving” instead of simulation? There’s a marked difference which is why it was tightened up years ago. A player may have to dive to avoid injury (real threat, or perceived). One that cheats by falling is simulating in he hope of benefiting from it. Rant over!

I never thought about it till you mentioned it but now that you did, it's correct i think. Just calling it diving doesn't correctly represent the fact that the person has tried to cheat by playacting . Simulation seems far more apt to use in such a situation.

It’s a tough gig, but I’m right on top of this, especially at grass-roots level. There’s a huge difference between getting out of the way and faking it. Sometimes it looks like an attempt to fool the ref when it’s a genuine reaction to stop (potentially) losing a leg and of course we get it wrong. Personally I always refer to body language at the time, the players previous and, if I have them, the assistant’s action. Anyway, that’s why it’s “simulation” as opposed to “diving” and for the money the prats with the microphone get, they should learn the rules

Its insanity. As you say, the referee is looking right at it. It wouldn't even have a place on a rugby pitch. Most blatant penalty not given I've ever seen. Naturally, this followed by 'well it makes up for the dodgy penalties you always get' , said after every single time we don't get a blatant penalty. ABU's annoying me much more than normal this season. Imagine dedicating your life to hating a bunch of blokes kicking a ball around on grass.(Sorry. That post took a weird twist at the end) Imagine getting 1.8million a week for kicking a ball about on grass? OK, that's another way of looking at it but it's not like united are the only team who pay massive sums.

Watched extended highlights earlier ,like what Sanchez did, trys his heart out and gets kicked a lot for his pains, best thing about him-imho, is that he’s wriggly, with a low centre of gravity ,and almost every shot he got off was on target. Lad’s a fucking steal at £1.9 million a week😂

Dropping Pogba was a bit OTT IMO. Mourinho hasn't learned his lesson that Pogba can't play in a two against a good team especially away and shouldn't have to. Pogbas best game was against Everton, in a 3 on the left with Herrera and Matic. He's an out and out attacking player and awful in defence. Mourinho has had 18 months with him and that hasn't changed, but he still makes the mistake of setting up like that.
He should stick to that MF 3 with Pogba, Matic and (McTominay or Herrera) I've said this before the City game. Also he needs to let's say "rotate" Lukaku more, so we can play that MF 3 and Rashford, Martial and Sanchez as a front 3 in bigger games, maybe sometimes with Lingard instead of Rashford. 4-3-3 looks best for us and we have the players for it in big games.
It's a big call with Lukaku, but with him leading the line there is no fluidity

Fine with Pogba being dropped as long as it isn't an extended absence (I expect to see him back in the lineup this weekend really, certainly for the Sevilla game), and as long as Jose realises that he too made mistakes and needs to rectify them.
Pogba failing to adhere to the tactics was wrong, but the tactics were rubbish too, so Jose should improve upon them.
