Read the whole twitter thread. Pretty interesting Not fun to read. L'Equipe are traditionally very reliable on French players and clubs. I bet Raiola has something to do with this story behind the scenes, and if he does there's a decent chance it's because some of it is true. L'Equipe can fuck off on that with the most vague wording i've ever seen.

also doesn't surprise me if the Pogba stories are true, Jose's system are completely holding him back and the club back. the rumours that we are after no attackers in the summer makes me feel underwhelmed about the window already. i hope its a smoke screen. supposedly we have offered Umtiti 100k a week to join and hes wanting Barce to match it before he signs a new deal. we should be going way more than that. hes easily one of the best CBs about. Well Roy Keane disagrees and basically says he should be able to play in a 2 or a 3. He should be good enough to do either.

www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5392667/Tottenham-wont-break-bank-Toby-Alderweireld.html#ixzz577ni6EqlToby Alderweireld's wage demands have brought talks with Tottenham over a contract extension to a standstill. It is believed the Belgian, 29 next month, is seeking a five-year contract and a salary far in excess of the club's £110,000-a-week pay ceiling. Talks are close to breaking point as there is such a distance between the two parties Real Madrid are understood to be monitoring the situation closely. Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal would also be interested in the centre back but Tottenham would be reluctant to sell to a domestic rival. Alderweireld earns £50,000-per-week and Spurs have so far refused to give in to his demands while sources claim there is no middle ground in sight. The player's deal expires in the summer of 2019, but Tottenham have the option of an extra 12 months. However, triggering that extension would activate a clause allowing the Belgian to leave for £25million — well below market value. That means Tottenham may cash in this summer. This is their Achilles heel and for that transfer fee we should be looking to take advantage. They will have to start paying their players the market rate.

If it is reliable that their wage ceiling is 110k , then it makes me wonder why we haven't tempted their best performers here with higher wages. I say tempted because we can never expect Levy to sell to us . I sometimes think that we should just get Levy in here , he seems of sound footballing mind and he's a bloody good negotiator by all accounts. Ed can continue to sign tractors , while we have someone capable to handle the reins football wise. Or we just sack him completely. Let him go make money for Liverpool, where he actually wants to be.

No he'll make them lots of money . We don't want that. Ed isn't our biggest problem.

I think this obsession with Pogba position masks other problems with our play such as our full backs not getting forward enough and putting in a decent cross, being reluctant to take a man on. Our ponderous movement going forward. The continuous playing it sidesideways and backwards. Despite having one of the tallest squads the number of set pieces the opposition score from. Players do have to adapt sometimes but I think there are bigger issues.

A few people on here said exactly the same when I suggested he should only be played in a 3.

Playing a midfield 3 makes a lot of sense and would suit many of our key players well, but I also think that Pogba should be able to do a good job in a midfield 2 when we're playing games that are supposed to be more comfortable, because he is a good enough player and is supported by good enough players.
I'm mostly bothered with the decision to continuously play a midfield 2 in tough away games against teams that are going to be playing with a midfield 3. What makes this even worse is that it doesn't work at all and we keep getting completely overrun in midfield and lose these games (or we somehow manage to scrape a goalless tie). What's the point?

Jose wouldnt stick makelele in the advanced midfield role so not sure why hes fucking about with pogba, i agree to a extent about pogba not questioning the manager and just get ur head down and do whats asked, but when it cleatly isnt working and it starts to become a problem for the team i cant agree with jose

Whether Pogba should or shouldn’t be able to play in 2 is kind of irrelevant. You dont spend 90 odd million on a player and then not utilise him properly. And if you are hell-bent on shoe-horning him into a formation that doesn’t suit his abilities then you are in no position to be even mildly surprised when it doesn’t work.
