This game leads into one of our most important weeks of the season. Make this an easy win and then lay a marker against Sevilla. Then hopefully continue that momentum by beating Chelsea. We need all 3 to be wins this week bare minimum to get our season on track again.

I have faith Jose will get this right. The formation worked early this season when we were blowing teams away. I think the system preaches patience, break the team down and then open them up when they're chasing the game. Could explain why Jose has continued with it hoping it would correct itself.

It can work against weaker teams. It hasn’t really against any of the big boys. Spurs way and City at home (albeit with Pogba suspended) saw our midfield chasing shadows. No reason to see that changing.

No reason to see that changing. Interesting though in his press conference today he was suggesting that they were playing a 4-3-3 with Pogba, Matic and Lingard in a midfield 3. Maybe it’s down to the players failing to do their job and lacking discipline. Matic was exposed in that spurs game due to Pogba. Maybe that’s why we saw Lingard and Pogba taken off at the same time against Newcastle as well.

If he's genuinely playing Lingard as the RCM in a 4-3-3 he's even deeper down the 'square pegs in round holes' rabbit hole than I thought! I don't believe that for a second. Lingard is a #10 or winger, he's not a standard CM at all.

No reason to see that changing. That early goal against Spurs knocked the stuffing out of us. We looked good for an equaliser until Jones's brainfart. With City we just looked timid. Despite them being the far better team it was still down to bad errors for their goals and we could easily have drawn that game.

Spurs dominated that game bar 10 minutes and wouldn't have been flattered by 4 nil. We could have drawn the City game. We didn't. And even if we had drawn it, it wouldn't have disguised the fact we were battered. Matic and Pogba as a 2 hasn't really worked in a big game bar maybe Arsenal away. And even then we were reliant on Dave producing more saves than any prem game in history. We were ok against a Kane-less Spurs but a draw wouldn't have flattered them.

Jose knows there is a problem and to be fair I am glad the press and pundits have made a huge deal out of this. To try mugging us off by saying Lingard was played as an 8 just makes a mockery of the top manager he is. Why didn’t he play mcintomnay as the 8? Should more accustomed to the role, more disciplined. Don’t just play Lingard because of what he did in games past etc, reality is he did that as a 10/winger not midfielder. Let’s see what happens today then

Pogba is ill and hasn't traveled.
We literally have 3 fit CMs. Jesus.

Ethan Hamilton travelled with the team instead. Played last night for the U23s so I doubt we'll see him.
