Would be lying if I said I wasn't very nervous for this one. They're in good form and we're not. That said, we were in great form before this fixture last year whilst they were in crap form and on the day we were rubbish, so hopefully the same can happen in reverse (but this time we win). This is the middle of our vitally important pre-international break run, which so far has been going well, but needs to continue to do so. The next two games are must-wins to stay in those competitions (and it would be highly disappointing if we left either at this stage), whilst any dippers game is obviously a must-win. We absolutely need big games from our under performing stars for this one, and for Lukaku (who isn't underperforming atm) to be more like he was against Chelsea at OT and less like he was at Anfield. Same goes for Jose as well. Also, PLEASE start Shaw. Please. Anyway, it's impossible not to get hyped for this one. I'm channelling my inner Keegan right now - I'd fucking love it if we beat them. Also putting my match day thread record this season on the line for this one - 5-0 so far

Stolen from this same thread last year, a few recent highlights of this fixture to get you in the mood:
The one where Martial made a splash (and the perfect training ground set piece):
The one where Mata became a pair of scissors (and Gerrard continued to be a cunt):
The one where we swatted them like flies (but De Gea was still incredible):

how do you beat these at old Trafford on a big pitch?
do we sit back and try beat them on the break?
do we push high up stopping their outlets to the strikers? but then risking space behind the midfield and defence - with their rapid strikers that could kill us.
I think the game will be won in midfield and I think they have the more mobile midfield at the moment. this is a game Pogba needs to really be worth his money, hes most likely going to be up against Can, who I think is a pretty good player and can get about the pitch.
mctomminay going to be up against either Windaldum or Ox; again, both very mobile. matic is going to be having to help the CBs with Firmino. hes not going to get any time on the ball as Firmino works his socks off.
-------------- DDG
Tony - Lindelof - Smalling Shaw
----- McT - Matic - Pogba
Mata -------------------- Sanchez
----------- Rom

If Young starts this game, Salah is going to retire him.

Too bad we were 2 down vs Palace after 47 minutes, I suspect that if we had the game under control Jose would’ve given Bailly 30ish minutes in preparation for this game.
Just win.

Attack these cunts. They will genuinely wilt under constant pressure. Spurs proved it. McTominay was able to shackle Hazard well enough, Wijnaldum and Oxlade-chamberlain shouldn't pose Matic and him much trouble.
For me , it is their attacking trio which holds the key. Sane and Salah are constantly running with the ball , or overlapping . Firmino also knows how to find them well. If we are able to keep them in their own half we should be able to smash them. It'll all depend on how this team is set out to play. If we're stuck in our own half it'll get tricky.
Beat them properly , shut the cunts up , cement our position and send out a statement. I expect nothing less from Manchester United against this lot.
(I'm also well prepared this will not be what transpires on the day though...)

It's my birthday on Saturday. I'd like to spend the evening celebrating it as well as a win over the scouse, not drowning my sorrows.
Just fucking win!
