“We are not a team. We’re a group of players from different teams,” [Jose] told MUTV after the game. “Some are first-team, some under-23s, some coming from loans and going on loan, some are younger, under-18s. We don’t have a team to play much better than we did but (it’s) one more training session.” sounds brutal but seems to be just right what he said. cant blaim him for that It's one of those ones where I think having English as a second language may hinder him a little - or, more likely, it's just the microscopic view on everything he says that can make almost any sentence sound aggressive. The first bit sounds damning in isolation, but the clarification after makes it clearer what he means.

As most reports have already said, think Pereira stood out last night. Hopefully he's not loaned out again and gets a place in the squad. Think he could force his way into the team this year with a bit of luck.

Pereira was good but I'd like to see him further forward. He's a very versatile player who can literally 5 positions but he's an attacking player first and foremost for me. Either at #10 or on the wing.

That's Mourinho speak for 'be less creative'.

I love how 'Andreas is playing okay' results in Mourinho seeing plenty of room for improvement. He could have scored a hat-trick and set up 4 goals and his performance would have still been 'okay'.

It’d be great if he could make a similar impact to that of Mc Tominay last year. He can deliver a killer ball, make good runs, now does his fair share of defensive- Oh yeah. Fellani just re-signed. Forget all that.

Mourinho: “Pereira? He’s playing okay, in the first match he was okay, and today too. I think he has to play even more simple than what he’s doing, but he has the personality to want the ball. I’m happy.”
Its like he's forcing himself to compliment the lad. He's trying, can't ask for more than that at the moment.
Pressers are more and more depressing as they go. At least act happy you fucking spoon.

Pereira is probably the best passer of the ball we have and he needs to be used in every game including the opener at Leicester

If he was going overboard he'd probably get the "Well it's only a shit team they're playing against anyway". I agree he can be a dour sod but I think it's going overboard to criticise him for that.

I genuinely don't know what to think of pre-season games. Never had MUTV before last October so I've never watched a pre-season in detail. I know we can't expect players to be at full fitness or tactical fluidity, but what do we look out for? Just glimpses of great play? I remember we won every game in our first pre-season under LVG, and promptly lost our opening game of the season at home to Swansea. Does it mean anything at all?
Not trying to make a point, I'm genuinely asking.

He can't go overboard though, can he? The football and results have been shite.

Not trying to make a point, I'm genuinely asking. They mean virtually nothing imo. Maybe the last friendly before the start of the season should tell you something but apart from that no. It’s usually a place to see a new player or a promising youngster. Apart from that it’s a fitness excercise. I mean, MEN this morning said Sanchez’s performance last night showed why he’s a favourite of the managers. Against the worst team in MLS. Actually worse, against their reserves? Baffling.
