I genuinely don't know what to think of pre-season games. Never had MUTV before last October so I've never watched a pre-season in detail. I know we can't expect players to be at full fitness or tactical fluidity, but what do we look out for? Just glimpses of great play? I remember we won every game in our first pre-season under LVG, and promptly lost our opening game of the season at home to Swansea. Does it mean anything at all? Not trying to make a point, I'm genuinely asking. The results aren't the main point for me, even more so given that we've got less than half the squad to choose from I'm just keen to see how some perform that don't usually get their chance...namely Chong, Pereira and Gomes. My problem with Mourinho right now is his attitude. He doesn't seem to give a shit instead of giving credit to some of the youngsters without it looking forced.

They're not hugely important but you're still looking out for players to look sharp and such.
Also from an entertainment point of view you wanna see us play some good football but it doesn't necessarily mean that I think we'll carry that form into the season, it just means I'd rather not be bored out of my fucking mind like I was watching the game last night.

Pereira is probably the best passer of the ball we have and he needs to be used in every game including the opener at Leicester Really, better than Pogba? Or d'you just mean of the players that are currently on tour? yeh the ones on tour and who have a chance of startin the first game of the season. hes probably the best set piece take we have including the whole squad though. I don't like how Jose is tellin him to play it more simple though. he should be tellin him to play forward at every chance. like Keane made our players do. no wonder we cant attack when he doesn't want them taking risks. ive had enough of him already

Mourinho: “Pereira? He’s playing okay, in the first match he was okay, and today too. I think he has to play even more simple than what he’s doing, but he has the personality to want the ball. I’m happy.” Its like he's forcing himself to compliment the lad. He's trying, can't ask for more than that at the moment. Pressers are more and more depressing as they go. At least act happy you fucking spoon. We have played two pre season games with a 1-1 and a 0-0. Can't say I'm too excited about those scorelines either. If he was going overboard he'd probably get the "Well it's only a shit team they're playing against anyway". I agree he can be a dour sod but I think it's going overboard to criticise him for that. Sorry but pre season or not the first two games against very poor opposition have been fucking wank and the guy is either making excuses or talking in riddles. There's more than enough grounds to criticise him. Also if this is how he has us lined up in midfield then we have problems.

Mourinho: “One more training session. We are not a team, we’re a group of players from different teams. We don’t have a team to play much better than we did.” #mufc [MUTV]
Still making excuses.

I missed the first 5 minutes because I lost track of time waiting for Sky to announce which Game of Thrones episode came top of their best episodes poll. After about 10 minutes of the game I wished I'd stuck with GoT. Went to bed at half time, got the second half recorded but doubt I'll watch it. (Battle of the Bastards came top, Red Wedding was second. I'd have gone Hardhome personally)

Honestly, I’m wondering if the only thing keeping Jose around is money. He just seems to be so flat and uninterested, which is also how we’ve played for a while now.

Or maybe it's that he's not getting the transfers we need? Does anyone think our squad is good enough, plenty of moaning on here about it not being. Daniel Harris ( quoted from a thread on Red cafe) who seems to have a lot of fans on Twitter, not sure what connections he has if any has basically said the Glazers are happy with the squad and think it's good enough for top 4. As I have said before maybe they are tightening the purse strings? They refused to pay for Perisic whether you agreed with that signing or not. We have agreed personal terms with Sandro but are refusing to meet the transfer fee with Juve. I'm not saying that we should be blowing ridiculous amounts of money but it's worrying if the top 4 situation is correct in that they will only go so far.

I'm going to stick up for good old ed here a little but other then perisic last season from the outside anyway it looks like Jose has been backed massively in the market
