Thing is you could argue that Jose will ruin McTomminay (dropped him as soon as Fellaini returned from injury and barely played after that even though he was impressive), Rashford (got dropped when we bought Sanchez and just seems to play small parts when he should feature a lot more) and possibly a handful of youngsters that have been impressive on the tour (Chong, Mitchell, Pereira, Gomez) expected to see a lot more of two of them.
Agree with the last part about even saying something nice that can only build their confidence. When he does say something positive though it comes across forced and like he's reading a script.

I think Klopp probably has the best history in terms of developing young players but during the last few seasons I think they've all been just as bad. Think Jose has only played as much as he has because he's been forced to do it. If he could have his way they'd all be ready made stars.
But there's no doubting the way he speaks about them is much worse than the other guys. You could say actions speak louder than words but what's the point in playing young players if you've destroyed their confidence? Pep and Klopp usually speak highly of their young guys, so if they do get their chance they're more likely to have the belief and backing to perform.
Long term yeah. But over the past two seasons (i.e. the two seasons where they've all been in their respective roles), Jose's record is at the very least a match for theirs, and probably better. Pep is going to waste Foden and all the other promising kids he has there. Klopp's never going to give Solanke a fair run. But Jose increases the pressure on himself for no reason when he could just say a few nice words, or nothing at all, or even defend his youth record - instead, he does none of that. Yeah they're all going for instant success now, was mainly thinking about Klopp in Germany. Pep has never done it in terms of bringing youth through but he is good at developing young attacking talent. Think Sane.
Jose doesn't say anything positive because he doesn't think it's necessary. He wants his experienced players. Probably doesn't bother because he knows he won't be here when the likes of Chong and Gomes are properly forcing their way through either.
I think we all kidded ourselves into thinking he wasn't as bad with youth as people make out. Unless they can defend he's utterly useless.

All well can good not saying positive things becsuse it not necessary, but neither are the negative things he comes out with.
Another thing that adds to his downfall.

You know how important that was last night? Not a single Scouse friend of mine even bothered to slag me. Not a single one. It's not the result in a pre season friendly that people are worried about. It's his fucking awful demeanour that

Wasn't making an excuse for him, just an insight into his mentality. He doesn't care enough about the young players to speak positively about them just to save face.

Nag wasn't a swipe at your comment mate, was aimed towards Jose himself really.

Anyone who has looked at our pre-season results over the last 4 years will realize how little this means going into the season. Not sure too many are saying that, just that it was more of the same regardless of who was playing/who we were playing. It was the exact same shit style of football regardless of personnel and formation. Liverpools kids slotted in seamlessly into their system when they cme on and ripped us a new one more than the big boys that started the first half. As did ours, apart from about ten mins from the end when our kids almost decided to take it into their own hands and have a bit of a go. We all remember the brilliant football we played in VG's first pre-season, and how the actual season started out. We know pre-season results don't mean anything. But no way are we suddenly going to start playing scintillating football once pre-season is done with this miserable twat in charge, they won't have the confidence to even try it because one mistake will mean as soon as the 'big boys', the other 70% of his squad get back they'll be straight back in... and then they'll all be terrified to make a mistake for fear of being thrown under the bus.

We haven't won the league and finished in the top 4 once over them 4 years The results definitely don't mean anything but pre season surely must be some sort of foundation to build on. IE style of play working a system out ect

Van Gaal pretty much did the same though. We even invented a new midfield role for Rooney because we couldn't justify dropping Rashford for Rooney after he came back from injury. Plenty of kids got a look in early doors only to disappear when senior players came back from injury. Its very hard now for kids to get a look in at the big clubs. There's only really Spurs , but their manager isn't under the same pressure to win trophies as us ,City and Chelsea are.

I firmly believe Van Gaal had no option to drop Rooney, I think the board softened on that stance when Jose came in but still kudos to him for finally getting rid.
Van Gaal, a manager best known for playing a rather attractive, possession based, attacking game wanted a lump like Rooney who couldn't control or keep the ball for love nor money in the centre of his midfield? Not a chance in my opinion.

Not a chance in my opinion. But why leave yourself having to rely on Rooney who was at MLS level by that time? We only got Martial last minute at the end of the transfer deadline and Rashford was right place right time. I know Rooney had a lot of power around that time but that was no excuse for Van Gaal selling off all his competition. It just strengthened his place at the club. Zlatan was the biggest master stroke imo to shifting Rooney out of the door.

If nothing else, it's livened this joint up a little. Aye. Everyone loved the World Cup, even fans of nations that weren't there. It was such an enjoyable tournament. But the activity on here the last few days shows exactly what people care about the most. Pre-season game against the scouse has resulted in more activity than at any point in the World Cup.
