That is everything. Used to throw a sicky if I was working and we'd be playing. Not a chance now, work is more exciting. So much so I've offered to work tomorrow night so I don't have to spend money on beer to hide the depressing football. I got lucky and was invited to a wedding reception.

C'mon Lads, football is back - on paper we should be plastering Leicester tonight.
Let's hope for a good start to the season!

Did someone say it's Nev and Carragher on tonight? That's one thing to look forward to. I'll be tuning in at 7 and seeing if Nev makes any tongue in cheek reference to the scummy cunt's antics.

I just want to see us play on the front foot and take the game to them but the way he's been using Pereira in pre-season is an indication to me that we won't do that. Most people agree that this is the kind of fixture we can afford to play a 2 man midfield. No need for someone sitting in, so simply move Pereira's position from being the holding midfielder behind Fred and Herrera to being the number 10, playing in front of them. Instead we're going to take the negative approach and play someone who's natural instinct is to create and attack, in a defensive position. Then there's also that inevitable moment when he makes a big error defensively and Jose benches him for the foreseeable future. Just seeing this in midfield:
Herrera Fred
Pereira
Instead of this: Pereira
Herrera Fred
Would make me a good bit more excited and optimistic about the game tonight.

Correct. And I read Rustin telling someone yesterday about 2 posts after he had originally mentioned it. Brainfart.
The point about the negativity stands though. If he was fit, we'd be going with that lineup and I imagine McTominay gets the nod instead and he'll also be playing further forward than the most creative player in the midfield.

Think the thing I'm looking forward to most tonight is seeing how Lindelof and Bailly get on.
Hopefully they both stay fit and play well, could soon forget about the central defender debacle in this window if they do.

Hopefully they both stay fit and play well, could soon forget about the central defender debacle in this window if they do. Precisely. He turned Ramos, who was a running joke of a player, into one of the best defenders in the world. A man who should be sainted for his gift to the world in the champions league. He’s a CB whisperer. He needs to do his work with the two young guys.

As I've already said, I have no faith in Mourinho playing them consistently no matter how well they perform.

Anyway, it sounded like there may be some cavalry on the bench in case things go pear-shaped.
