I'd stick with Bailly and Lindelof. If you have faith in a central defensive pair, you don't drop them because of one bad performance. Give them the chance to improve and form a partnership, that was still only the 2nd game they've ever started together IIRC. Continually chopping and changing your defence is more of a hindrance than a help, need some consistancy and continuity in there. Totally agree with this, just something that he doesn't seem to do, granted injuries haven't exactly helped matters, especially with calamity Jones. I'm all for having faith in the same back four as you've said to build and improve a partnership but its hard to have faith in a defender that seems to be making mistakes on a regular basis. I'd start Lindelof anyway but I'm not sold on Bailly yet. Sometimes I think he's the sort of no nonsense defender we've been looking for since Vidic and sometimes I wonder why he seems so rated. Its frustrating.

I'm not sold on either of them but I agree give them more time to settle, we've tried Jones the cripple and soft arse Smalling isn't going to get any better.

It’s tricky, the CB situation. Bailly and Lindelof both played like ketamine addicts last time out but I appreciate the need for stability. However, Smalling and Jones have barely given Kane a kick in recent games.

Just think we're never going to know how good Bailly/Lindelof will be if we drop them or 1 of them after 1 bad performance. For as poor as they were against Brighton (Bailly was far worse tbh), they were both excellent vs Leicester. The performance of the whole team was worse against Brighton.
They both need a proper run in there, just like Shaw at left back, although Shaw has been very good both games so far.

I think you are giving them far too much credit for the Leicester performance. They obviously played better compared with the Brighton game, but fuck me what a scary last few minutes those were with Chaos at the back. Vardy with a free volley in our six yard box before scoring from the same spot and then their GK winning a header from a corner, all within 4 minutes...
Regardless, I'd play both again for reasons that have been mentioned above

I should've added "for the most part" at the end of the comment about their Leicester performance. But yeah, even if they'd been shit both games, you need to give the partnership a chance to build.
I still believe that it doesn't help the defence that we constantly invite pressure onto ourselves and our midfield can't seem to control a game.

Hopefully Matic being potentially back will be a huge help in that regard. Although, we shouldn't need a holding midfielder against fucking Brighton.

Grief. Hoping for Smalling to play 'for stability'. How far our standards have fallen. Yeah, the most entertaining United are at the moment is watching old games on MUTV We are shit.

This for me is the most important thing but even if he back he's not going to be 100%. Also it depends how defensive we're going to play. My only hope for this game is we put a stop to the constant sideways and backwards passing and concentrate on attacking. He's too concerned with us conceding than he is with us scoring. We have Dave for that. Focus on getting the goals.

We're already scared of making mistakes, and he's hammered home the point already that we can't make mistakes.
Risk free, boring shit 1-0 win if Spurs don't show up is the best we can hope for.

He didn't need one when Jones hammered the ball past DDG at the near post And apart from that? Nothing at OT, nothing in Wembley. True, but then he always has a colossal fuck up in him, our Jones (see the cup final). As already suggested here, I don't think Jones and Smalling are going to get any better than what we have already seen from them. The other two still might. For that and for the sake of stability in the back four I'd stick with Bailly and Lindelof for now.
That until Rojo is fit again... my god, what a clusterfuck
