Anyway- I still think there are positive signs re our speed of play. It’s only coming in bursts at the moment but I think we have to give Carrick and McKenna credit. We probably also have to give them some more time. I love your optimism but I think as long as he stays we will never get going. They had more attempts and shots on target than we did and Dave pulled off two maybe three astonishing saves and their forwards were kinda shit yesterday. How many times did they break with time walking through our midfield, but they always ended up with the wrong pass getting the ball stuck under their feet. Doucoure was the outstanding MF player yesterday another excellent MF player bought from France for pittance also scored 8 goals last year. It was hoof ball and some last minute defending and great goalkeeping. I don't remember much speed of play a few breaks at the end when they were really stretched looking for the goal. A well executed set piece and poor defending from a cross and Lukaku scored with his cock. Matic is looking his age and isn't fit, Pogba looks distracted to say the least and Fellaini gets MOTM for winning a couple of headers and barging. He gave the ball away from nothing several times so if that's a MOTM performance for United we are truly fucked. Battle for 4th with a shit Arsenal and jaded 13 man Spurs, playing pragmatic boring football! We played really well for about 25 minutes leading up to the break. As mentioned during the game, Pogba scores, it’s 3-0 and we are coasting. Instead we take our foot off the pedal and we’re hanging on. But we completely dominated that period. However the goals were scored, the rest of that period we played well. It’s a dispiriting second half but I don’t think throwing the baby out with the bath-water serves anyone.

ManUnitedTalk @manunitedtalk Early in the season Watford always start well. That's a very good win that. Second half we were shit but the first we were excellent. Pogba's long balls were sensational. Fellaini was brilliant. De Gea is incredible. Smalling fantastic. Typical comment of where we are.. Pogbas Long Balls and Fellaini was excellent Where did all go wrong George? You’re just being facetious now. Pogba’s long balls are hardly out of the Wimbledon tactic book from the 80s. His life no range passing is sensational. There’s a huge difference from a raking cross field ball to lumping into the box for Mick Harford.

I’d also advocate something for a home banker: 4-4-2. Dalot at RB, push Tony V up to RW. Give it a half, who knows. At least we’d have pace there.
I'd be more tempted to bin Valencia off. Honest to god sick of seeing him only using the outside of his right foot or doing that funky dance whenever a player just stands infront of him.

The gap between us and Chelsea, City and Liverpool this year will be frightening. That's my prediction and I am managing my expectations down based on what I am seeing, so I can only be pleasantly surprised if we get better. I don't see anything different in the way we play or how he sets up to the last couple of years and the other main teams have really moved on!

Lukaku wouldn't be under as much scrutiny if other players shared the goalscoring load. When was the last time Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Rashford, Martial and Herrera scored? I could add some more... To your point: I’ve posted them a few times so I won’t bother again, but look up look up where our goals came from last season and compare it to where City’s came from. Lukaku and Augero were more or less even, however the drop off in secondary scoring is shocking. The likes of those you mentioned (and Pogba) need to step it up big time.

Chelsea and Pool spent considerably more than us and City finished 19 points ahead. Our summer transfers were a big let down from what we actually needed. The quality of football is a different matter.

I realized yesterday why it seemed like he’s had a renaissance over the past few seasons. He used to slow everything down with that funky dance and his penchant for checking back and passing inside every time he got the ball. Now, our entire method of play is just as slow so he doesn’t stick out as much.

I'm not being facetious. I am just fucking bored of his shit football brand and nothing will change. None of which has anything to do with my point. OK well I will answer it directly then We are playing hoof ball the same as that old style football. We are basically an expensive Tony Pulis style football team. We just have 100's of millions more talent and resources than those teams have, but a manager who believes that football is just about nullifying your oppositions strengths and setting up to do that, then counter sucker punch. Half the time we do resort to that type of football ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “I think he (Fellaini) is finding a simple way to think and play football not just being strong in the air and to help defenders against teams that play this way. “Burnley and Watford both play with two strikers very direct with a lot of challenges in the air. Not just to do that job but the simple way he is thinking football is playing so we are happy with his contribution.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have completely lost our way as a football club and MY POINT is people think this is ok! Some people could make the argument we could suffer this wanker and his shit negative/hoof ball football if we re winning things major trophies but we aren't. We are just an expensively assembled boring pragmatic football team

MY POINT was Pogba’s long range passing is actually something to be admired, not lumped into the cesspit that is large parts of our football at present. Not let’s move on eh?

Lukaku wouldn't be under as much scrutiny if other players shared the goalscoring load. When was the last time Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Rashford, Martial and Herrera scored? I could add some more... He wouldn't be under as much scrutiny if he was scoring in the biggest games and not, for example, missing open goals at home to Spurs.

Here we go again folks. Feels longer than summer since the last game. Fucking hate international breaks. It looks like no new injuries with Jones and Rojo due back. Shaw is likely to return either against these or Young boys. Looking forward to a scintillating performance. 2-1 United win. It's almost like I can see into the future...
