www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/david-de-gea-hailed-the-13256815Manchester United ’s Spain keeper pulled off an outstanding late reaction save to prevent Christian Kabasele snatching a last-gasp point with an injury-time header on Saturday. Foster gushed: “He is the Messi of goalkeeping. He has been the best goalkeeper in the world for years. He is absolutely brilliant now. Some of the saves he makes at really critical times are just breathtaking. “He does it all the time. It’s almost like he is not even bothered either! It would be so nice to pull those saves off, get up and it’s almost like he just wants to go home. He can’t be bothered! “But seriously, he is brilliant. A top goalie and if any young goalie out there wants to learn how to be a goalkeeper watch David De Gea. He is world class. “I think the thing with David is that because he is so natural, from what I hear as well he is not a great trainer. Training doesn’t do it for him “But three o’clock, the adrenaline rush and what comes with that is what turns him on. I think that’s something that you can’t really teach. He’s got the game management, the game nous of what to do at any given time and when it happens.” De Gea - criticised for his displays at the World Cup - had earlier produced a superb one-handed save to stop Troy Deeney giving Watford a first-half lead at Vicarage Road. Foster went on: “He made a save last season - I think it was against Sevilla in the Champions League - it was from a point blank header from about five yards. “Most goalies would just kind of close their eyes and hope for the best. He just watched it all the way, kept his eyes on the ball, saved it and just got up like it was nothing. “That’s the difference. Being able to do stuff like that under pressure. Five yards out? Most goalies would have no chance of saving it but he is so natural that he can do that. [The criticism] comes with the territory. You’re only as good as your last game and that’s the way it always will be. Fortunately for David, people that know - his manager for example or his team-mates, know that he is the best goalie in the world and that’s all there is to it. “He might let a bad one in now and then like we all do but he will come up with the goods like he did today to win his team the match.” De Gea modestly played down his widely-applauded performance. He said: “Normally when it’s a header and it’s close to the goal you have to react as soon as possible. I made the save and it’s important for the team, for me. So we are all happy.”

Does amuse keep at how many people (mainly Abu's) that have called Dave average after the world cup Saturday once again proving otherwise. Not just the save at the end either but he pulled off a cracking save in the first half as well.

Anyone that thought he was anything other than still the best goalkeeper in the world after the World Cup needs their head examined.
He's just utterly phenomenal.

That isn't a slight on big Pete, he's a club legend, it's more about how incredibly highly I rate de Gea.
It is hard to compare them though, they both played in completely different standards of teams. It would be interesting to see how they both got on in each other's respective eras.
We're just incredibly lucky to have had, for my money, the 2 greatest goalkeepers the Premier League has seen. Throw VDS in there as well, who easily makes the top 5.

My main qualm with Schmeichel was the fact in 99 he said he had to give it up because it was getting difficult to keep up with the training etc...then he joins those Bertie fucks. For that reason alone Dave is above him. I can let him off for Villa but not city.

The World Cup actually worked out brilliantly for us and Dave. The rabid Spanish media wanted a scapegoat and Dave was the choice. Perez is hugely influenced by media and allowed himself to be swayed and turned to Courtois. Who is young enough to be their keeper for about 8 years. Which should be how long we have Dave.
Beautiful.

I think also Dave realised they don't deserve him in Spain, they don't appreciate his talent and will be on his back every chance they get. what annoys me is you here how the press go on about the likes of Allison and ederson and neur etc but for me dave is in a different league, he is by far thee most complete keeper playing right now. the consistency aswell is on a different league to anything

Think he knows as well the first mistake he makes over in Spain he would be crucified by those fickle cunts.
The lad has ability and sense, not being controlled by a cunt of an agent either. Good lad.

How do we feel about this season? Kinda looks at the moment that Mourinho will wether the storm as he has deflected blame well but we will mostly likely be watching City & Liverpool (Chelsea) in a title fight while we finish the season lower than last season. long way to go yet I know. We have got a couple of results against sides we should be getting results against, that's all. The football is still shit and we aren't going to challenge for the title. The season is a write off for me already. It's not even about this season for me. He had one game against Spurs and we tried to play in the first half got done and he's resorted again to his big men game. It's just like VG who started off playing then got done by Leicester and played boring possession football from then on. It's worse under Mourinho with a much better squad, so the results are slightly better. Anyone who thinks half the players in that squad are suited to his game are off the mark. I have no idea why he bought Fred or insisted on Pereira coming back, because neither will feature unless there are injuries or suspensions like Matic next week or in games against lower league teams in the domestic cups We will bully the league cup or something and get 4th playing the big fellas. The most 0-0 draws in the PL since Fergie retired 20 only on par with Southampton post Pocchetinno, who had Shane Long up front and hasn't scored a goal since flip open Nokias were all the rage. Mourinho has the most 0-0 draws at 9 I hope his days are numbered but with that idiot above him who knows

I wish our attackers had that same killer instinct to score as Dave has to save. We wasted too many chances again. Should’ve been 3 nil at half time and a relatively easy win. We make things way too hard for ourselves.

It’s not just the shots on targets, it’s the overall poor decision making. This should’ve been an easy win.

We make things way too hard for ourselves. We actually have very good forwards, but we don't actually create that many clear chances or use them properly! Watford had more attempts on goal than we did, but their finishing or final ball was awful or they had Dave to beat I watched the Wolves game against Burnley and Wolves had 19 attempts on goal, with some of the worst finishing I have seen. If Wolves could afford Lukaku, Sanchez and Martial, they would be awesome, because only City have created as many chances as they have this year in the PL. That's astonishing for a promoted small club
