My recording failed at 50 mins. Ironic as I was actually enjoying a game for a change!
If only JM would continue with this line up to let it gel, but we all know which players will waltz back in. Still, good to see proper full-backs tearing down the wing - long may it continue!

Really do like Fred as well. His energy is refreshing and his passing and movement is class. He's like a mix of Carrick and Sanchez in the making.
We're not playing scintillating football but we do seem to have turned a corner since the Spurs monstrosity. There's still a long way to go before we even look like the team we should be but i am seeing more positives, from players and from Jose. Just hope its not a phase and it continues to grow.

Re Fred ... that man is an attacking mid. Not going to work well as a holding mid, however, he should tear up the PL once he is moved forward.

Slightly weird evening...
I went with my mate (soon to be son-in-law) to our usual pub in Banbury to watch the match...he's a Spuds fan but such a nice bloke, I can't hold it against him!
Anyway, we are just getting into our second beer when John Parrot (ex World Snooker Champion) sits behind us...this is a bit random as the pub is nothing special at all...
We are watching the game and chatting away about it and football in general when John starts joining our conversation...
I was worried as being a scouser, he was probably a vermin supporter so not looking forward to this at all...but he's an Everton fan, so forgivable, and a proper football bloke...we had a good chat about all sorts of football stuff...turns out he had a gig - after dinner speaking - further South (Stoke Poges) and didn't want to drive all the way back up North and back again, so he decided to send the night in Banbury...
As I said, a bit weird...
Anyway, I enjoyed the game in general, once we got going, and thought we showed glimpses of what we could do if we keep the same or a very similar line up...
Dalot was good - better than I saw him for the reserves and didn't look at all out of place...
Shaw carried on his good form - long may it continue...
I liked the attacking line up and I'd love to see us persist with it in the PL but not hopeful...
Martial looked a little rusty but he is a confidence player and I'd love to see him get a run in the side...
Pogba played pretty well after his goal and it wouldn't hurt if he kept the captaincy...
Overall a pleasing result and a great start to the campaign...let's just continue this form into the PL...

There were a couple of occasions last night when we attacked with pace, verve and panache...it was almost like watching Manchester United...

Tbf we were unlucky against Spurs, the monstrosity was Brighton.

Very good performance from young Dalot. I think it isn't a stretch to say he should slot into RB a lot more from now, he looks so natural at it. It would allow Valencia to get in on the right wing, which wouldn't be a completely bad thing.

The next time someone says Pogba does nothing for us and is easily replaced, can we just point them to this game?

Parrott always seems like a good bloke when he’s on the BBC.

On one hand I agree with you, but on the other hand I can also point out several games where he is piss poor. I think nobody is disputing what he can do. It's more along the lines of him unable to do it on a consistent basis.

Missed the latter part of the first half but what I did see was pretty underwhelming. Second half was better and was comfortable in the end.
How refreshing to see two full backs playing at full back.. though Dalot looked very promising, both defensively and offensively. Shouldn't be too long before he takes over from Valencia. Shaw was very good again, if he keeps this up he'll be the best LB in the country.
Pogba getting lots of praise, I wasn't overly convinced though. Two goals, one very good, but he gets caught on the ball far to fucking often. Needs to get out of the mindset of thinking he has forever to decide what he wants to do when he gets the ball.
All a bit disjointed going forward but I'm glad Martial scored - hopefully he starts on Saturday (which he won't).

The next time someone says Pogba does nothing for us and is easily replaced, can we just point them to this game? I think the main point is that he doesn't do this consistently or at least he hasn't over the last 6-9 months. I've said plenty of times how good he was for the first part of last season but as time went on it got harder to ignore the poor performances he was putting in during the 2nd half of the season, besides the odd glimpse like the 2nd half away at City.
Also got to faction in the emotional response people have had to the off the field bullshit as well. I don't think there was anyone simply saying "He's shit, get rid!". It was a combination of lacklustre, underwhelming performances and off the field talk which suggested he didn't wanna be here.
There's no doubt we'd struggle to replace the Pogba of the last 3 games but he has to do this every week.

We should be very happy the Vermin messed about with Fekir. We should also be first in the queue. His goal was brilliant. Sort of clean strike you'd expect off De Bruyne.

It would allow Valencia to get in on the right wing, which wouldn't be a completely bad thing. I want Dalot to have made that position his own by the end of the season. I love Tony V. He's been an absolute warrior in that position for us but what I saw from this kid yesterday has me very excited.
Him and Shaw could see us settled at full back for the next 10 years.
