Martial keeping Mourinho in a job. The irony of it
Sterling gets paid 300k a week and is about half as good as Martial

We score and the first thing Mourinho does is write something down when most managers would be jumping up and down, he’s a strange case.

I literally said that Smalling wouldn't turn into Maldini. Can you read? If you couldn't it would actually explain a lot about what you post. You said you would expect them to do a lot better with them. How exactly do you see Smalling improving after all these years? Maybe that explains a lot about what you post too. Yeah, I think a better manager might be able to make him a bit better. Not a lot, but a bit. I was more getting at a better manager would make the defence as a whole better, and make more of an impact on the younger lads (Bailly in particular) at the back. So a better manager would improve our defence by having Bailly and Lindelof at a higher level (admittedly Lindelof is threatening to get there now, and fair play to Jose if he does) so Smalling doesn't play. Obviously the board should have shelled out for a CB in the summer. That's not in question. I just think Jose could simultaneously be doing better with what he has. It's not an either/or situation where either Jose is amazing and the board terrible, or the board amazing and Jose terrible. The board are fucking awful, and Jose is showing signs of doing better but overall not doing well enough.

Same people absolving the players time and again. Why should a 28 y/o defender be expected to take responsibility for his own actions on the pitch when you can just blame the manager and hope the defender learns a lesson when the new manager turns up. I mean it's worked so far for Smalling and co after 4 managers. Maybe #5 will be the one when it finally sinks in? Who is absolving Smalling? I said he's been atrocious. And you also said that Jose has to take his share of the wider blame? The blame for the board thinking there are no better defenders than what we have? Lindelof looks more of a defender than Smalling ever has. Stick a decent, experienced leader next to him and he will probably improve massively. Smalling won't. So if the board had done their job and bought said CB there is a better chance we wouldn't be witnessing the defensive shit show we do all time.

Obviously if it's a 95th minute winner let's go mental, and Jose would. But an undeserved equaliser away to Bournemouth in the 35th minute? I don't mind him being calmer. Better than Klopp embarrassing himself every 5 minutes.

Do I have to do a percentage breakdown of who shares blame in every individual post? I and many others have said many times that the board has a huge share of blame - by far the biggest. Jose also has a share as do the players. Just because Jose has some blame does not mean I am absolving the board in any way, shape or form. They're useless cunts. I was massively on the Alderwiereld train in the summer and still am. He'd be ideal for exactly the reasons you said about improving Lindelof. That's on the board and, as I say, they get the biggest share of blame. But Jose gets some blame as well because I also think he could do better with what he does have in our squad.

He has just gone and bought a new player when his previous one didn't work. Hardly turned round players with no hope has he? Klopp has hardly bought unknowns either. Any player he has improved have had the scope for improvement already. Jose needs to go, but if you think some of the players out there are suddenly getting any better you are crazy.
