And you also said that Jose has to take his share of the wider blame? The blame for the board thinking there are no better defenders than what we have? Lindelof looks more of a defender than Smalling ever has. Stick a decent, experienced leader next to him and he will probably improve massively. Smalling won't. So if the board had done their job and bought said CB there is a better chance we wouldn't be witnessing the defensive shit show we do all time. BORED!!!!!!So you are aware of how we feel when you start with your comments about Mourinho?

We score and the first thing Mourinho does is write something down when most managers would be jumping up and down, he’s a strange case. This was the notebook apparently...

Fucking hell the failures come in waves I don’t have to look for them.

Yeah, I think a better manager might be able to make him a bit better. Not a lot, but a bit. I was more getting at a better manager would make the defence as a whole better, and make more of an impact on the younger lads (Bailly in particular) at the back. So a better manager would improve our defence by having Bailly and Lindelof at a higher level (admittedly Lindelof is threatening to get there now, and fair play to Jose if he does) so Smalling doesn't play. Obviously the board should have shelled out for a CB in the summer. That's not in question. I just think Jose could simultaneously be doing better with what he has. It's not an either/or situation where either Jose is amazing and the board terrible, or the board amazing and Jose terrible. The board are fucking awful, and Jose is showing signs of doing better but overall not doing well enough. How exactly do you polish the turds in the squad? Why did you mention Pep earlier? He has just gone and bought a new player when his previous one didn't work. Hardly turned round players with no hope has he? Klopp has hardly bought unknowns either. Any player he has improved have had the scope for improvement already. Jose needs to go, but if you think some of the players out there are suddenly getting any better you are crazy. I don't think we'll suddenly win the title with a new manager or anything. And some of the players (including Smalling) should just go. But I do think better managers would get more out of many of the squad.

Only the players we should be keeping though (the likes of Martial, Rashford, etc) , not the one's we should be replacing as there is nothing more to get out of them. The ones the board won't sell and replace meaning we have to keep putting up with the shit performances. A new CB wouldn't have fixed the shit up front, but we probably wouldn't be constantly conceding, which would have made getting a result easier.

we won but mourinho was not happy. funny moment in the 73rd minute but mourinho was not laughing. mourinho writes notes instead of celebrating an undeserving equalizer. mourinho didnt answer to a stupid question. mourinho didnt stand up from his seat to complain about a foul. mourinho didnt tell player x to not get nutmegged etc etc etc...
i know the club and us fans go through a tough patch and in times like these its very easy to suddenly find problems and failures. probably not many in here who still think mourinho is the right man for the current. i personally rather support him than the board and he is the one who finally opened his mouth but anyway its not about that. just for the record,i'm on board with most in here about mourinho. i just dont understand the "making up shit out of nothing" stuff. yes its hard for all of us but a bit of objectivity and soberness wouldnt be out of place.

Scholes is right, Alexis has looked better up front. I'm confused by how moving central can make such a big difference to his game, given his failings on the wing were so incredibly basic (failing to control the ball isn't really position-specific), but if it does then stick with it. I really want to see the two up top get a proper run out.

It really was a travesty that Ed didn't get a top CB in. I think Maguire would have been massively overvalued but even he would have improved things. Alderwiereld was the one though IMO.
