Are people seriously starting to write Matic off after only 11 games. Fucking hell  Yes, I’m totally basing it off 11 games. I’m not factoring in the latter part of last season (when he looked knackered) because I’m a mad man. He's far too slow in this side. Him and Lukaku need to be out if we want free flowing, quick football. I've said it before. Fred and Pogba in a midfield 2, Mata ahead behind the striker. Done. Only worry would be our wank defence more exposed. |

Matic really excels when he slots in as an auxiliary defender when our wing backs go marauding and can follow the play forward when we are in possession. He intercepts well, recycles well and is a decent passer.
I thought he was great for us last year but definitely started fading towards the end of the season. Apparently his hernia was bothering him then. Played through the WC then had to get surgery after. I'm just surprised it is taking so long for him to come around, but he doesn't get rested...ever. I would like to see us try Fred deeper and give Matic a rest but he probably wont get one until Fellaini is back. Not enough trust in the other midfielders

I think we can all agree Matic would be better after a rest for a couple of weeks. Some may think he still wouldn't be good enough for us, but he's clearly crying out for one. Personally I think he's definitely still good enough for now, but I don't want to see him still starting for us in 2/3 years.

Imo I don't think he's finished, he needs to recharge, if that happens and he's still the same then we can accept it, until then I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt just like we have for some many of the other players that have been off the pace. |

Only worry would be our wank defence more exposed. both of those players are nowhere near ready for the responsibility of a 2 man mid unfortunately. whilst fred has the energy he is best in a 3 right now. they will get exposed, get abused and ultimately be dropped well fred will anyway. The issue is matic is tired and even when he isn't he doesn't have that quick release pass to get the quicker players on the move, a player that is a combo of matic and carrick would be perfect. sit deep, break up play and release the ball with a pass that takes out 2 or 3 opposition players. |

imo Pereira was better in his first couple of games than Matic has been all season.
he can track, tackle, pass, move. of course he needs to develop but hes not going to learn not playin him.
